well yesterday I was in a cave.. At least the A/C worked and the tunes were hot..
Today was a 180... Baking in the sun 110' up on a pile in a loader ..
Top of T- Bird is 90' from my loader..
No A/C. No Tunes..  The word Sucks !! comes to mind..

Passing T-storms last 2 eves.. Nothing major and no real relief..
Oh , The best relief this week>> Gerry's awesome pics he has been sending me of summertime adventures.. 8 days and counting .. Rhode Island here I come.. Only hope its half the good time he is having out there..

Well it figures, only day off for this week and we are under an area flood watch. Seems big rains are coming today thru tomorrow . Expecting somewhere around 1 .75" rain .
Ugh, can't catch a break ..
I see they are letting quite a bit of water flow from SR so I suspect in anticipation of the rain.

185 to 1800 in a instant can't be a good thing to the fish, why not step it up over a 2-3 day period? I hope they don't flush it all down the drain and have nothing come Sept.!
Here in SE Pa they are saying some rain today,I'll believe it when I see it.
Now there is a TORNADO watch for my area,I'm going to do a "cancel the tornado dance" right now....see you later

Was out on the Eastern end of Long Island the past couple of days attending the Women's US open golf Tourny- great time and some, but not much, rain.
When I got home this evening one of my dogs feed bowls had bout 2 inches in it from the past two days--ouch.
Nutty year so far.

At least around here we did not get the torrential rain, although it did rain some.  Looking for a stretch of 3 days to get in some hay.   Not looking good for at least another week.   We are WAAAAAAAAYYYYY  behind

A friend and his family have been vacationing in the Adirondacks since 6/22 and I don't think there has been a day where they didn't have rain.  I'm hearing a few roads have washed out and the streams are roaring.

If it rained this hard in Sudan the world hunger problem would be over .
They'd be selling watermellons at roadside stands just to get rid of it.

2.37 inchs in a few hours.
Old record was 2.1 in 24 hours.

OK I am full of it and it doesn't stop raining on my birthday.

Finally YES !!!! The weather is absolutely steller out here in little Rhode Island ..
Georgous blue skies and bright stars for last night awesome fireworks display all up and down the beaches from any direction you looked.
It seems someone was smiling on me because I really needed this after the dreaded graveyard shift.
We had a blast in the yaks and got about 6 dozen great eats in minimal effort yesterday.
Gearing up for some serious diggin today while the wife plays in the yak.
Hoping to get some fishing in later as guys were catching striper, blues, sea bass and fluke right in the river where we been hanging . They all said the best fishing happens from dusk into dark so we shal see.

Hope the sun is smiling where you all are and your enjoying the dry weather for a change

HT- the blues were probably gorging on sand eels.  The water was thick with them when I was up last week.  Fish in close before sun up with a 1 ounce diamond jig on light tackle.

Hot, humid and downpours here.   Rain for 15 minutes really hard, sun comes out, steams everything up and then it rains again.

Very pleasent in Charlestown RI. Like said humidity broke. Zero chance of rain through Sunday and high 80"s with breeze.
I feel for you guys in the oven. It was hell back there.

Struck out on the fish tonight. They were breaking surface , I was chucking big top water plugs and rippin a spinner bait. That's really all I had with me,, some pond bass stuff wit a med 8# rod. Was fun and know the fish can be had.
Back for some more salt water free fun tomorrow.

Sometimes those cookie cuter size fish kinda jumping as they go and just outside the surf are Tuna.- sometimes mistaken for mid size Blues running the shore line. Hard as heck to catch from shore but on occasion a small silver spoon can get the job done- Watch the drag if you hook one.
Enjoy- its great up there this time of year.

84 for a high, blue sky , 10-20 steady south breeze, humidity gone :)
Great salt water- pond temps 70-80, blue water 65-68 :) awesome weather for a summer relax.
Many boats out fishing , sailing, or sandbar hopping next year I bring a motor craft ( maybe)
I really can't say any bad things about this highly free public but moderately used other then a launch off . Quonnie breachway ROCKS !!
Did see a pile of fluke filleted just at high tide mark, geeps...

RG:
I'd have to say they are blues or bass here. I'm in a breachway channel with the jetty about 1/4 mile up..
Guys in the blue water flow seem to be either hard on bottom or bouncing 1-2oz buck tails .
Ah well a few more years and little more time and I may figure it out. Had fun ripping surface plugs though. Kept telling wif " I'm gonna catch one" :)

91 and very humid here,it's so uncomfortable that I did n't leave the A/C house this afternoon, spent some time trying to organize my fly tying stuff and put a good dent in it.Tomorrow it's going to be hotter, then maybe a shower or two later.
Sounds like you're having a good time Rich,I know the fish are avoiding you but how 'bout those clams?

Humidity is down a little bit today making it almost bearable.  Next week more of the same highs in the upper 80's and a chance of rain and T storms EVERY SINGLE DAY

93 the past 2 days and so muggy ya can swim in the air.
Hey Tuna for some reason I have rarely had luck in the Breaches this time of year-even when lots of med size stripers are easily seen.
They seem to always have millions of those little 'silversides' running up in the edges.  Those little inch and a half shiners running in for days on end seem to really slow the bite and seem to often become the food of choice when around..
Have fared better on the beaches early and late.  Like Breachways on the turn of the tide where the ponds meet the Breachway  on the inside  free lining small eels. Throw them out and across as far as possible and letem drift down like swinging a fly  on the SR. Only diff is kinda letting out more line half way through the drift to extend the zone. I dont use weights on them in that low water.
Those rollers where the breaches empty out on the outgoing tide are often good using most anything specially when schools of blues or stripers start to feed on the stuff coming outa the ponds-although kinda prefer smaller plugs there or silver spoons..
That island behind the Charlstown Breachway has a great run on its West side where the pond runs out into the breachway. That first little waterway  intersecting the  main run -running east to west behind the parking lot is generally easily wadeable. Even has a hole bout 60 yards down on it where some schoolies often lay unnoticed.
Have never turned myself on to the 'local lure of choice' those pigs and white jigs.
Good luck - its a great time to be there with the family.
( harsh reality is that Sept/oct is the hot fishing time on the shoreline up that way IMHO- Blues and stripers start running realy well then))

The breeze has stopped and seems humidity is creeping in. Skeeters are out.
Today was just a chill out time.
Jack, clams galore .. We ( wife & I ) pulled out around a bushel of just legal size little necks over the course . Didn't put huge effort and the rewards were sweet.
Today I stuck 2 small blue fish chucking & slow rolling a white spinner bait with a plastic shadow fluke . So I conquered a goal there.

Bailing out in the afternoon and already looking forward to a return more prepared in the fishing dept.
Heck, I'm sitting by the campfire now looking at ice gear again ,,

Always great figuring a new place or fishing style out.
Not a clam eater myself but for someone who is it sounds like a great time, gathering your own and then eating the fruits of your labor.
Relaxing as heaven I would think.

Dont know where to put this but its worth repeating sooo since this thread seems to 'catch all'--

While we worry bout fishing and the weather down in Brazil the fans  just beheaded a Soccer referee and placed his head on a stake midfield.
Then his friends and family got together and stoned the main culprit to death and quartered his body- also on field.

Kinda like ancient Roman holiday behavior at the Coliseum.
And sometimes we think we got 'issues'.

Re:Weather thread 2013/07/07 12:52:16 (permalink)
Now for some context.
The way I read it the ref had issued a red card and the player assualted him.
The ref pulled a knife and stabbed the player who died on the way to the hospital.
Fans and friends then stoned the ref to death, quartered him, severed his head and placed it on a pole.

See that is not nearly as bad since only  two not three people were killed needlessly.

I heard the heat and humigity may have played a part(just getting back to the weather theme, I don't really know about the heat being involved).

Thanks for the clarification BOB - stand corrected- like anything gotta read a few reports to get the whole "story' .
Clearly its not nearly as bad as I first thought--lol.
Either way If I were younger might grab a plane for the next game--them boys know howta keep a boring soccer game interesting. After all -anything to keep ya awake during the 'off season'.
They may well have taken 'half time entertainment' to a whole new level. Wonder if the fans did' waves' during the quartering.

Just to stay 'on topic' 94 and muggy here.
