Yea we have got a a bit of rain over the last few days.   There were some big boomers last night.   Today and tomorrow are going to be cold and crappy.   Was going to go out on Oneida today , but too windy for me.  Will wait till next weekend.   Crappy cold weather too, might snow tomorrow.

Maybe if the lake level has risen to the point that the river is running towards the Tug.
More than likely they would become confused and hold in mid river somewhere.

With the way the wind has been blowing that may just happen...lol!!!

This little cold and wet trend couldnt of happened at a better time.
Just when we thought summer/ above average conditions were almost upon us, this weather is gonna bring back to where it should be

WHat you want now is a few days in the 90's to burnoff the black flies, and then the cold snap to turn the brookies back on, and you should be good to go until bass opens!

Yeah the flies have been hit or miss... saturday morning was pretty bad until the weather turned upside down. Probably gonna be horrible this week once it warms a little

Windy and a bit of sprinkling rain here and there has dampened any thoughts of fishing Oneida today.  Dad said the wave were pretty big when he went by this AM.    I have a few days off next week.  A trip to Oneida or to Sandy pond for Perch is in the works

The weather up near whiteface mt was stellar this afternoon. Some fresh rain showers, cloudy and about 69 degs. Perfect fishing conditions .. No worries Jack, they once again have poured that magic elixir in the water to kill the black flies . Gotta love tourist traps :)

I'd still have a bug net, jersey gloves, big rubber bands for my cuffs and a lot of Deep Woods if I was going to the central tug for the next couple of weeks, and in the Daks, the peak of the hatch may not have come yet, but BT does do a good job where the local community can afford it.

Or, if the blacks are done, bring on the deer flies!

Yea lucky, go a bit outta the placid area and you will get carried away by those black flies. Years ago they air sprayed but that had little effect . Since they found some magic elixir that they dump in the water, watched them do it before. It works wonders to say the least.

Weather wise, good pounding rain last night from about 2am till dawn. Decided to sleep in and now the sun is out so time to hit the awesome able.
We are expecting afternoon- evening storms all week which is perfect.
The fresh water is just what the river needs :)
I will say though, fri- sat night is expected to go down to 28 deg.. Knew I shoulda brought my tip-ups .. Lol

Well I got word a tornado touched down 20 miles from my house today. It's been very cool and over cast up here ( Wilmington ) all day.
Last nights rain dropped the river temp from 60 @ 4pm yesterday to 57 @ 9am today.
Expecting some nasty stuff tonight but I will power through and fish hard tomorrow .

Mustve missed ya clint. A strong blast came thru around 7 p.m. last night... it gave the river a decent natural flow increase.... but apparently it musta hit tug hard as they bumped it up to 500

I planted seed 2 weeks ago and its coming in pretty good. A new lawn though in which i graded with a machine and brought in new topsoil... with all the effort i put in to it ive had no other option than to water it religiously to ensure good growth and root base. Luckily i havent had to water it recently though, and im sure weve got a decently full reseevoir after the last two nights.... thanks for your interpretative dance efforts pafisher!!!

We got some good amounts of rainfall overnight . It bumped the river level up to 1,000 which unlike the sr is PERFECT here. No bumping bottom with the yak and still easy wading , well, wading is never easy on this river though.
The sun is out which is why I'm waiting a bit for the trouts to wake up.
Loading up now for the all day float :)
Maybe a report later if I survive ... Lol
Peace & Tuna

PS.
Lucky, I tried to make it a Job but empty pockets just weren't paying the bills so now it's just an adventure ..

The ausable is about as fake of a fishery as it comes. The state stocks tens of thousands of trout that many do not survive the winter anchor ice. I fish it because I know the few areas that do have giant holdover fish and like to play with the 2 year old stockies in between.
Same goes for the ponds.
Big water now and the river was a complete bust today. Hit a pond in the afternoon and now waiting out a big T-storm to pass.
Looks like it will be pond hopping the rest of week

We keep getting bands of T-Storms and torrential rains. Had my awning ripped off camper. Insurance adjuster is coming to camp tomorrow . That's service.
River is completely blown out now and I'd expect it will be for at least the next 2 days.
Only caught 1 dumb dink trout today.. Kinda makes me think who was really the dumb one today.
Rubber raft and pond time .. Possibly higher winds for tomorrow so hoping for the best.
If all else fails, I will settle down with 30 of my good buddies.

Stay safe everyone

PS:
Don't know if you guys seen but the NYS brook trout record was broken last weekend 6.03 #
I know a few ponds I fish that don't get
Stocked and dec nets giant brookies to use for egg take.
Ya never know unless you get out there and fish.

Tuna- a friend was up North Caribou Hunting a number of years back. Said the native Brookies were  a few pounds on the average and bit readily.
Kinda sorta always dreamed of going up there and skipping the furry stuff and just FISH.
That said a 6 pounder is awesome.
