Weather is NUTS- rain 2 or 3 outa every 5 days here in Ct and lots of heavy rain too.
Probably not very many young Turkey making it which is lousy with diminished numbers in the first place and Trout fishing in muddy waters must be poor too.
Just hope the Fawns dropping arent too affected with wet weather health issues.
Personally skipped the Trout season for the first time in my life due to excessive time consuming issues- retirement dont mean just hanging out --darn.
Only good thing is the Web cam showing high SR levels. That place needs a good washing now and then and its getting it. Hopefully it brings in some nice Atlantics for Summer fun.
Glad they arent draining the Res and appear to be releasing new waters while keepig the levels up- that may play well in the Fall.
Hope to get up next week to mow what must be a hay lot again.
Glad to see some of you folks still fishing and keeping this place alive in the 'off' season. Still wanna get up in the Tug for some natives.
Hope the Feds arent reading this.

Another shot of heavy rain rolling by twenty miles west of Danbury, CT.  Reports say it should end by midnight.

Today was the first stellar day in a long time. Got a lot of outside work done but now the job calls and all the fun is over.
Seems another break tomorrow and maybe early Monday :) when I hope to wet a line for some Giant pannies :)
Tues on looks like a mess and calling for 1.4" of rain :( like we need more.

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine and may tomorrow be a great Pop Pop day as well .

Another stellar day out there so far . Skipped the opportunity at fishing this morning to get some more much needed outside work done. Kinda a bummer because my buddy did well. Any rate, things are perking up around the homestead and want to continue the trend until thurs. Heck or high water I will step back and enjoy time on the water for my days off :)
Now off to the JOB in 10 mins.
Hope all your days go well

Re:Weather thread 2013/06/17 15:28:42 (permalink)
It has been gorgeous down here in WNY when it has not been raining, but there has been no fishing because the flows are still massive, streams that fly fish for resident trout at 150 cfs have been over 400 for two weeks, and even when I decided to put up with the heavy flow wading, the water is so turbid that you have to hit them on the head with a streamer or crayfish pattern.  Things may get fishable tomorrow, and the forecast is good through Sunday, but Friday starts my annual education in Music, 9 nights of three or 4 shows a night, plus a couple of hours of waiting in lines, and probably hanging outside for a couple of free shows.  Friday night is Dr John, Saturday Delbert McClinton, the following weekend Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings had to pull out while she undergoes cancer treatment, but the James Hunter 6 with Shamieka Copeland opening, will fill the bill, and the last Saturday, its Mingo Fishtrap followed by Trombone Shorty on one stage, and Monty Alexander and the Kingston to Harlem Connection on the other.  Last year I got to hear Warren Haynes one night and Jimmy Vaughn the night before on the free stage.  There are 280+/~ shows in the clubs, and my wife and I both have passes this year.  To check it out , go to http://www.rochesterjazz.com/.

The weather here in SE Penna is now warm and muggy, streams and rivers are dropping to fishable levels and maybe I'll wet a line one of these days.

Looks like a some nice days ahead and a bit warmer every day will be in the 90's next week.   We have to start getting our hay in soon so at this point need at least 4 dry days in a row to think about it.

Just when I thought it was over this evening= gangbusters--heavy downpour late in the day- I mean the kind of rain you would think can only happen in the tropics. Then muggy and nasty after.
Oh well - a good dry day before that - for a change-- did two lawns and got in 9 holes too and was on my way to my LAST City Council meeting when the sky opened up   lol.
Pulaski tomorrow afternoon--lawn and perhaps some fishing too---
At last  ; at last --finally really retired.

Well we dodged the storms to the north and south of us for the last two days until about a half hour ago.  If we could only get a weeks worth of sun perhaps the vegetable garden will start to grow.
I do hope it clears out by next week so my wife and I can spend some time on the beach in Narragansett, RI.

Well we gave up on the vegetable garden here in Westerlo, hired some Vietnamese and planted rice. Seriously though i hope the salmon hold off and dont run in August (yeah right) because its gonna take us that long to get the fields baled. But after last years mega run and an ever increasing amount of natural borns in the river plus the faucet pouring on us every other day, i think a sizeable mid august blitz run is in the makings. Of course now that i predicted that. . . . . Probably not. Lol

Thanks Guys- lookin forward to it--
Got to Poolasky yesterday in early PM and mowed the yard AKA hayfield till late- Got up this AM and watched the Deer eat the backyard for a long time then shooed them off and cut that for a few hours- then I trimmed for a couple of hours and bugged out for CT- Slow goin when ya have been away a month at a time.
Only a few snakes in the yard this time lol.
Great weather up there and few bugs out. No fishin this trip- lots going on at the new house here in CT. Cant wait to sell this one and move in.
HEY-- there is a new riverside construction project going on between the town bridge and the island at the Needle on the north side along the parking lot below the observation decks.. Couldnt tell if its a boat pickup place or if the road is just for the heavy equipment to get down to the Rivers edge, Using  lots of those nice big flat rocks they have used here and there in other places along the river lately.
Might be kind of nice looking but likely to be swamped in high water .
If they moved the Web Cam a bit down steam ya could watch it.

Might be nice Clint- that side is a chore for a lot of folks with the swampy rocky high grass being difficult for some to negotiate.
As a supporter of handicapped places this may well be as close as the river gets considering its directly adjacent to the town parking lot and has the benches and observation decks.
I go there often when doing shopping shores in 'the season' and stop for a bit just to watch the show. Neat when the fish are running up over that low slate on bright days when ya can see from side to side..

Just looked at the Web Cam again- the project is showing up real well on it.

Hot as hell out here yesterday & now. Don't like the sticky stuff much and even worse when A/C in work equipment is broken, which is always.
Summer time weather usually signals a shut down in my fishing dept but I my try and bear through it .

We have a buffalo farm close by and yes it is mighty tasty :) never seen one escape or on the loose . They are so domesticated they just mope around the fields.

Stay cool fellas fall is coming ..
