Gonna be a short season for sure in terms of vegetables. Even down in jersey right now is in the 40's... i dont think weather is ever gonna be like it was...i mean, mother nature always had its extremes, but there is definitely something different about the weather in the past four to five years... tuna, make sure those buschy's are tall

So it seems the weather has taken its toll on most campers here .
Tenters just decided not to come and those yuppie campers have started to pull the plug and head home. Funny seeing folks with gloves and ski masks walking around freezing.
We on the other hand are , have been here for the long haul.
The fire is burning ( good thing I stock hardwood ) and the beer is cold.
Rain, rain go away, 6 straight days is enough for anyone to play.
Off to some tourist trap sight seeing, lunch and back to the smokey fire

Winds worse than yesterday and temps at 52 degrees.   Probably gonna be a frost tonight if we are not careful.

You aint kidding tuna... about 10 minutes of heavy storm came through downtown syracuse. An area construction job had guys on a roof in which they got up by a scissor lift... wind blew it right over luckily while no one was on it. Emergency broadcast was blaring tornado warnings with specific instructions on how to seek shelter

Got up top SR Country yesterday ( thurs) bout 2- Grass was HIGH after bout a month away. Bout my longest nice weather separation yet.
Mowed slow for 3 1/2 hours and just about done when BANG- Belt broke.
Yknow how it is when ya cut too high grass- really needed a second cut today. DARN.
OK- put on a new belt this morning - didnt look right from the get go- 40 yards later BANG again.
OK, what to do ??- loaded up the truck bout noon and brought the whole rig back to CT. Will work on it here and have to get back up soon to finish.
Didnt relish runnin all over where aint too familiar with the shops and such and dont likely have the necessary tools on hand for repairs.
Mid 80s yesterday and mid 90s today.

one word "SUCKS" !!!!
only day off and I'm outside with my waders on trying to get the rest of my garden in order..
Will say though, last evenings pre-during the rain, the fishing was FANTASTIC.. A little local lake action put a bucket of GIANT gills, some Yellow Perch aboard and released a few smallies..
Sorry no pic's of this top secret location.. :)

2.39 inches in the 'cuse yesterday, probably about the same here.   River is still running high.  Hope they don't drain it too  much.

All we can do is hope clint. The past two years the reservoir was waning at this point of the year. If we dont have water in september this year, then someone is doing something wrong

A month ago we needed rain badly.  As of today the reservoirs throughout the state are flush, many over their spillways.  Who knows what the dog days of July and August will bring?  I don't think the conditions will be as austere as last September but you never know.

Yes gerry, one may never know, but the last two years were dry as a bone summers for the salmon river watershed. And the reservoir was either average or low at this point in the year for the past two. Im gonna call it out early... 750 for labor day and 375 or more through september!!!! Lol

How about skamania and atlantics??? Maybe a fluke king here or there with this high water...LOL!!!!

Drew, I'm not complaining about the conditions of last fall because the fishing last September when we met was stupid.  It would be nice to have a "normal" run this Fall with the CFS in or around 500.  As the song says, "you can't always get what you want, but you'll find some times, you get what you need."
