Humid and threatening.  Man did it ever rain lat night with thunder boomers and the whole 9 yards.    Here is the worst of it though.   The deer flies are out in full force and it is unbearable because of them.   Mowed the lawn for the 3rd time this week and I had to wear a bug net.

Thick cloud cover has moved in and it looks like rain.  I don't mind if only it would break this humidity.

2bob you were quite right and man I feel for those stuck in the soup the last few days..
It crept in on the coast last night and was thick this am.. Driving home we hit the storm head right around Lee Mass.. Could see the steam off the hills and valleys then BLAST !! 4 ways and 35 mph on pike.. Wasn't bad as it only lasted about 5 miles before clearing..
so yup.. Back to the hot humid reality here.. At least I'm working the eve shift in A/C for only 2 days..
Fall is coming boys and hard water is right on it's heals   ))))>

Mid 90s again  and humid with a very slight breeze. Breeze drying up everything. Dead brown grass under long thin spindly green grasses- water flowers every day still dried out on top. HATE IT. Dirt like concrete.
Need rain bad- never thought I'd say that this year lol. NOT one of those 15 minute hard rains either- a nice steady long term soaking.
Some nuts already falling with the heat wave after all that wet weather

1 & 1/2 " of rain in an hr from 10:30>11:30 last night.. more big flooding..  Again today (every day) the emergency broadcast system said more of the same is on the way..
Very hot, very humid out there as I try to get some yard work done..
We are by no means lacking water for the garden, grass or streams..
The Mighty Hudson River has been chocolate brown since my last striper outing in May.. The creek out back started to clear once when I went for carp but has not really been fishable since..
Ausable Rive up by Lake Placid has never hit below 1,000 since I left there memorial weekend..

Yup, if you need water RG there is enough of it in upstate NY...

HT- Those cells of TS are staying well north of me.  We haven't had a drop since early last week.  It looked ominous a few times but nothing.  The same for today, air is thick, heavy and sticky as hell.

I just hope Jack is relaxing in the A/C tying up a bunch of flies.. Maybe a few extra of those killer salmon patterns too.. Might need some as there is much work to be done round the homestead for me to think about sitting still at a vise.. Gotta love sweat soaked clothing.. Work for hr/ take break for 15 mins, repeat ..  Ugh.....

Was at the ' new 'house  while ago bout 15 miles south of here. Temps dropped to  70 and a gully washer hit- thunder lightning and some VERY heavy rain. 20 MPH traffic with wipers on full blast.
Got here at home and its just sprinkling so light the roads arent even wet. Oh well -might cut the grass.

Drought???  Where I am in NY we are 2.5" over normal for July and  >4" over for the year.  If it doesn't stop raining soon, crops will die from root rot.  Soil erosion has been really bad this year with everything muddy since April.

Re:Weather thread 2013/07/10 11:18:05 (permalink)
well I read that it has rained here 34 out of 37 straight days with yesterday being a dry day.. Figures, I just got done staining my back deck and it looks like rain is coming any second.. ugh...
I hope the SR is good fishing with a  500>750 flow, not much more or less would be fine with me..  Don't really like the skinny water fishing much and the super flows kinda suck too..

While Ice is always on my mind , again I hope this moisture clears out by november and there is just enough snow to make the drag easy but not having to deal with plowing or trudging through the deep stuff.. A fast early hard freeze would be GREAT .. Lakers baby !!!!

Be well guys, time for me to do some mechanical work out in the garage.. Gosh, thought I bought new vehicles so I didn't have to work on them, but then again after 7 years old it's time...

Right now it's a major rain/thunder event here at my daughter in Hudson Ohio,it's coming down in buckets for a hour or so.Major flooding is forecast in immediate area,I would n't be surprised to see Steelhead swimming in the street.Fortunately her house is on high ground.

Holy shatsworth looks like 4 rain free days starting Friday and only a slight chance tomorrow.   I know what I will be doing this weekend as the plan is to cut some hay tomorrow and Friday and get it in this weekend

Really though, today was by far the nicest day we have had in over a month.   Humidity has come down to bearable levels as with the temps.  Do I hear Oneida calling me Sunday  AM.........    maybe????

Tedded some tonight.   The one lot was so thick I don't think it will be ready till Monday.    Maybe on small lot tomorrow and a medium one on Sunday.

Bad news it my tow rig was more broken than just the AC.  They found a bad water pump and an oil leak.  It will be down till Tues at the earliest.    Probably no fishing this weekend   Good news is it is under warranty.

2 more weeks till Quebec

Clint, I helped a buddy hay his 270 acre farm in Worcester, NY.  Long, hot days of riding around in circles.  Can't begin to tell you how many coyotes come out and are looking for a quick meal while you ted, windrow and bail the hay.  Also lets you know where the woodchucks have dug new holes so you can plink them at a later date.

Yeah Gerry.   Cut, ted, rake, bale,  pick up.    A Haybine cuts and crimps and a kicker baler and a wagon gets rid of a few loops.   We have neither.  Yep alot of snakes get cut up and I have even gotten a few deer with the mower.   Sometimes animals are like kids  gotta check out something new.  There were 6 deer in the field after mowing tonight.   It is hot nasty work as I am usually  in the pick up and mow away detail.    I wear long sleeves and pants during it all due to poison ivy.   Drink about a gallon of water an hour and sleep good at night on haying days

F ing rain.   A small sprinkle came through around 900 for 15 minutes or so.   Just enough to set us back a day.   It is quite windy so that will help with the drying.  Just have to ted twice today and see.

10:00 and Just came in from an AM from looking over and greasing the rake and tedder and then picking a few quarts of blueberries.    It was starting to get brutal at  0830.  It is now 1000 the temp is 80 in the shade and the humidity is 85%.   Might have 300 bales to get in if it turns over OK. Will not start baling until 4 or 5.  It WILL be a good time.

Got in a couple 100 today, tomorrow will be the big lot, it was still too wet even after tedding it twice.    Humidity was not horrible in the 60's, but bad enough.   Tuesday will be the barn burner of a day.
