Ridiculously stupid probably explains it a little more better... it was definitely one for the record books... fished alone pretty much for about a week in the afternoons...500 cfs in the lower end is awesome for salmon since you mentioned it...

Any "locals" seen the res lately?
I hear they are draining it at the rate it is filling (all according to their computor gauges so that may be differences is reality).
If it is full it should remain so as long as they remember to turn off the tap end of June.
Minimum base flow and evaporation should leave more than enough water for 350 to 500 cfs release plus TB A
and OC boost making for 500 to 700 ish flows through the ballpark and down.

Good times.
Screw the yakkers if its especialy hot and dry, but it doesn't look to be a problem at this juncture.

Have not been up there,  but it has to be full with all the rain we have had.   With good management it will be an ok summer for fishing up there.

Bob, hopefully they do shut it off when the time is rivht. Steady soaking rain again for a few hours last night. Based on the last two years they have to reall fukk up to have no water for this september.... some yackers are already being smart and taking advantage of the higher flows this weekend...

Bob, speaking of the end of june its gonna be a super moon on our birthdays...

Thanks Clint.
I figured it was full but was looking for conformation.
I had read that the outflow was matching the inflow and what I wrote was my way of saying it appears they are giving the gauges a closer look than before maybe.

Seen a few more Bdays than you so I can attest that it does occassionally rain on 6/25 but not very often.
That is why I know when the start of the summer draught is.

Twobob, i didnt think it was worth the ride to the res the otherday but now that its 335 it may just be worth the gas to see how much they left in it...

Steady rain all day.  With the river at 335 if the Res is not full there is something wrong

44 years  this Salmon Season-yes I have reverted to marking all holidays and events to various outdoor activities that have nothing whatsoever to do with those events- kind of my own little way of maintaining some small level of sanity.

Clint unless they snuck in and deepened it while nobody was looking it has to be full.
I bet more is coming in than is flowing out at 335cfs.
Could be a real nice flow for Atlantics and unicorns for the next couple weeks.

Rain,Rain go away.. Please go visit Jack in Pa !!!
My gosh, things have been a total wipeout around here.. My garden is drowning, only thing growing out there are mushrooms.. The streams and rivers have been shot for many weeks and summer is looking shorter this year..
Looking at the 10 day there really is no end in sight to this madness..
Only saving grace is impoundments as a fishing option .. Looks like I'm gonna need a bigger boat..lol..

Man last night was brutal !!  I was complete toast today and still in my PJ's.. 3 midnights down, 2 to go ugh.. why didn't I give up when I had the chance  May-2nd.....

We are going to get hit with the mop on Thursday.  Two inches or more expected to push Catskill streams to flood stage.  Beautiful today, the calm before the storm.

Anywhere from .5 to 3 inches forecast around here.   They are saying more to the south though.   River is up to 1650 anticipation.  Isn't this funny.   It's been running higher this summer than the spring or fall.

Re:Weather thread 2013/06/12 19:19:14 (permalink)
clint, the days it has not rained around here have been few and far between.. I think it's far more rainy days the non..
Since stripers finished up about 4 weeks ago the Hudson river has been muddy , not even a clearing in sight..
I have been waiting to hit the Mohawk river for walleyes but again, muddy and not an option..
During my trip to the Ausable river I got basically 1 day of fishing in before the blowout which put it over 1,000 .. Since then it has only been below that once and is currently at 10,000.. Can only imagine where it will go with more rain..
The garden is pretty much gonna be a bust this year and it seems the spring fishing is as well unless I stick to lakes and ponds..
Even then , it's no fun fishing in pouring rain for pannies or bass.. At least for me..
All this gloom has already got me looking at ice fishing gear and hoping for another deep freeze to jig lakers..

Sorry for the downer post but being nocturnal this week kinda puts me in that mood..

According to a pic by shane on another board the res is about 16 inches from being maxed out, which is good for this time of year.
