Was watching the Steelers game and most of the game they were getting heavy rain, then I checked the radar to learn that it was mostly south of the Erie trbs and they are probably still locked in ice. Will be at my daughter's for xmas but conditions are terrible for fishing those tribs at the present.

Erie Temps to be in the 40s for highs this coming week. Night time temps vary from upper teens to low thirty's.

Maybe warmer temps will cause enough snow melt to raise the cricks and prevent additional ice ups.

Tis the season so tight lines and good times.

The ten day says rain on the week end then going into the deep freeze next week, does n't look good for fishing the tribs this trip.

I decided to forget my fishing gear for  my Xmas trip to Ohio. Not interested in standing in the water when it is in the mid twenties mid day,My real concern is driving home, don't like the traveling in snow over the mtns in central Penna.

Merry Christmas to all.
It's been a crazy mad house here the last 2 days and with the 6" snow overnight, kinda made for more work.
I'm ready for the deep freeze and more peace on earth

Keep that stuff muup there........

ERIE (KDKA) — A record-breaking snowfall on Christmas Day brought travel in the Erie area to a near standstill, forcing travelers to reconsider their plans to drive through northwestern Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service reported 34″ of snow fell on Erie on Christmas Day, the highest single-day total ever recorded.

From what I have heard and seen the main snow fell north of Pulaski, We got none after Christmas afternoon. Up on the hill 4 feet was the norm , let them have it. I broke the angle cylinder on the plow and now have to locate one that will not break the bank.  Below zero  the next few nights. I think Rich better turn on the electric blanket........

No electric blankets here. I actually turn the pellet stove off at night because it's to hot in bedroom. Waking up to 55 is ok. Right now.
I did a recon ice check locally today.
Water I have not walked/fished for 2 years was sold. I'm guessing it's only going to get better from here on.
Finally the weather suits my clothes. No snow please

Re:Weather thread 2017/12/27 18:18:26 (permalink)
We again dodged the ''snow bullet '' the band came south it kind of stayed around the St rt 104 corridor so Mexico and Oswego got hammered pretty well with over 2 feet.  we here got around 6 inches and it never really made it past us. Below 0 here at night for the next week. Looks like Oneida will be ready to fish before Sandy pond as there is 4 feet on the pond. Friends are going to black lake this weekend but I have to work..........

Here is the story 62 inches in Redfield

Oswego does on a regular basis, they got 3 feet. I know that is not a real comparison though as I think Erie more like Syracuse size or a little smaller. It cripples the city because a) there is no place to put it and B) there is not enough manpower .  Just hunker down ad wait that's all you can do

And to top it off we had a calf this am, lucky I had the day off.  I hate it when they have them wen it is this cold. We lost the last one as it would not eat, did our best to force feed it, but I guess the strong survive and that makes a strong herd.

My Sat fishing forecast say -20 high of -4 with 30 mph gusts. Gonna get ugly. Hub shanty and 2 heaters.

Well the coastal storm that hit my part of paradise seems to be moving east and out of my immediate area.  Hard to say how much accumulation since the snow was horizontal the entire day.  I'm sure the drifts will be deep outside my garage on the south side of the house.  The winds ripped all day gusting to 30+ mph but fortunately the power has stayed on.
I was lucky this time.

I just saw video of Scituate, Ma., they are under water from the storm surge.
If I had to guess we probably got 6-8" and nasty cutting wind.  It's supposed to be single digits in the morning when I fire up the blower.  Hurry Spring.

I'm luvin the new lingo, "Bomb Cyclone"......... .   I gotta wonder, did the weather dude that thunk that one up, git a special prize?

I enjoy winter but can only take about 3 months of it, then I'm ready fo Spring.  Wind is ripping now and has been stupid crazy the past week.  With the temps barely hanging in double digits during the day and minus digits at night, the wind chills just don't seem to be much fun.

Reminded me of my place in Pulaski-often white out conditions  yesterday.
The amount of snow was way overhyped but the winds were a real issue.
