I like the foot volley more. Guys can go really insane knowing they have softer sand to land on.

Back to the Stillers. I’m hoping Mason gets the nod this week. Obviously not the future of the Stillers or likely even the backup after this season. But they drafted him as a guy to study under Ben and possibly replace after he retired. Ben reportedly treated him like crap, the organization didn’t seem to treat him the best after, but has always seemed to do what was asked. Not a great QB, but not garbage. He seemed to be okay, until he was almost decapitated, then not the same after that season and replaced by Duck. Too many people write him off for that and never got much of a chance after. Not saying that he would amount to much more than a game manager though, where Trubisky definitely has more of the traits to be a starter, just not able to put it all together. Trubisky just had one of the worst games of any QB this season and wasn’t playing very well when Kenny was put in. He just made the horrible season start or Pickett look much better than it was. I doubt he has much trade value at this point. If Mason were to have a good game, he could be a low round pick trade to a playoff contender as a backup. Mason seems to be more of a capable game manager for a game or two that might interest someone. He doesn’t have any other current resume, so one good game could get the Stillers a 6th round pick or something for. They’d likely free up cap space in the process too.

Yeah, the best match was on the sand.

In other Steeler-ish news I COMPLETELY HOPE they start Mason Rudolph this week so PORK can fulfill his not so subtle man crush on him!

Last week with Trubisky, the Steelers played well enough to win as they were able to move the ball pretty well. It was those 3 costly interceptions in Ravens territory that killed them. It appears that Mitch could see cornerbacks and safeties, but was utterly blind to linebackers! Let's go, Mason!

I was pullin' for the Browns too. How about Minnesota? Down 33-0 at halftime and come back and win it 39-36. Most points in a comeback ever.
Tomlin named Trubisky for tomorrow, so unless something happens, no Mason.

Trubisky did okay the week after Pickett’s first concussion. I am thinking they must feel that fire is there this week? Last week’s performance would have most backup QBs out for the rest of the season. I wonder if Mason is handling things in the locker room a bit different than he seems to in the media. If he is agreeing with half of Stillers fans that Tomlin should go, probably wouldn’t help his case. Not saying he deserves to start or would do much better. I’d start him just to try to get trade value. But wouldn’t be much, so if he is talking crap on Tomlin, why would he start him?

That sort of talk has to be seeping into their locker room. Talk of Canada being horrible is definitely, being that every other team they play has players saying it. With how much media and any comment section having half saying “fire Tomlin”, how could it not hit their locker room?

Rudolph's best chance for a trade passed by last week with 3 or 4 QBs goin' down. At any rate, with Pickett down, the Steelers wouldn't have given him up. I give him the benefit of the doubt, and I think he may be better than his stats. Wonder what he could do with a good team (as a starter) for a full year? He's been a back-up since he was signed.
Hopin' they pull one out this week, whether with Trubisky or Rudolph.

I think those 3-4 going down is a wake up call for any good teams with a subpar backup. If you are really in the hunt and not just mathematically alive like the Steelers, you need a quality backup. To me, that is what both Trubisky and Rudolph are. Arguably what Kenny is at this point too. They might be trying to trade Trubisky, possibly had other teams inquire about? I really don’t know what playoff teams’ backup situations are, but doubt most have a backup as good as either Mitch or Mason. Guys that can win early round games for upper teams that would face teams on the level of the Steelers first round. They aren’t likely winning AFC/NFC championship games.

Mitch played last week, much like Kenny’s first two starts. He looked good until he tried to force things. I do think Mitch will rebound. He is a borderline starting QB. I think good enough to win today. Their overpaid defense needs to live up to their contracts though.

I’m not a fan of games ending on penalties, but it sure was exciting to watch those too. The game as a whole has got to be in top 5 or so WC finals of all time. Glad Messi got one. The guy has inspired so many kids and don’t recall ever hearing of any negative news about the guy. I’m sure there is some. Hard for any of these guys that are in the running of GOAT of their sports to not have some sort of personality flaws. With how competitive they need to be to be the best at a sport, someone is going to complain that they are conceded or whatever. Some of these guys would have to spend every minute of the rest of their lives to sign autographs for everyone that wants one.

No shame in liking both E.   I still prefer hockey for watching.  Actually getting into lacrosse too, at least college, since my son started playing for the school.  Talk about rough...now that is a real man's sport.

Encouraging game. O line played well, running game was good, Mitch didn’t force things, run D was lights out, pass D was really only weakness. But you have to expect at least one weakness. Last week, they all were bad, so an obvious improvement. Can say the competition made a difference, but Carolina offense is much better than the garbage the Ravens had last week. Win last week and they are 7-7, in the Wild Card picture. Insane that they are even that close after how bad they looked the first few weeks. Things are looking pretty good for their rebuild. At the beginning of the season, they looked like they’d need help just about everywhere. Hopefully by the end of the season, more guys step up and not needing to address.

couldn't believe that Colts game man. Sheer insanity. Thing was, everyone knew it once Vikings got to 36-21. Was so weird.

Played for a few years. Best sport a kid can play in the spring. Make sure he wears groin protection. Seriously, many many teammates I've played with in indoor and outdoor lacrosse have gotten very hurt not wearing it. One of the more common injuries I've seen.

I'm not sure where ya live Eyes, but if possible, take your son to an indoor lax game. Buffalo and Rochester both have teams in the NLL, not a bad drive from Western PA. Games insane and fun to watch. The Goalies are dressed like NHL Goalies.

May have to make a road trip up to my Alma Mater this spring and catch a game and do a twofer, since my daughter seemed interested in it for college.  RIT won the national championship this year.

I am constantly on my son regarding wearing his cup.  He's gotten "winged" a couple times already in practice when not wearing it.   He got nailed real good when playing dek hockey goalie a few years back and didn't have it in.  Thought he would have learned by now.   I do want him to produce some grandchildren some day!

Yeah. It was always weird to wear em and full on sprint, but after seeing a few people go down - changed my attitude quick. That ball is pretty **** hard!

Tomlin says he won't "give the pound of flesh people want" over Marcus Allen.
while I understand not giving it to keep things in house, we've got a long storied history of lack of discipline on the team.

Man, that's a fact! There have been incidents in Tomlins' tenure where he's let guys of the hook for some serious incidents. He's not big on being a disciplinarian. Some of those infractions under Noll or Cowher and those players would have been gone. Remember Noll sayin' about one guy "maybe he should just get on with his life's work"?

RIP Franco. I hope he wasn’t in pain for long. The past few weeks have been pretty heavy hyping up the Immaculate Reception, so assume he has been extremely busy with it. I hope all of that extra work and pressure didn’t have his final days feeling like torture.
