I'd rather be lucky then good, but im to good to be lucky

I hear you thunderpole but unfortunately that don't seem to be the case, here in my little piece of Penn's Woods.  I put a spot light on the fresh cut fields, as well as two adjoining hay fields, several times through the night, and not a deer was seen, not even an eye.  Will be doing the same later this evening, just to see what conditions the conditions is in.

I haven't been afield for the past two days but when I was, there was no sign of rubs or scrapes anywhere in the areas where I was.

Hoping to get out tomorrow morning for a feet swinging session in my highchair, then maybe some still hunting, to see what I can see.

Good luck to all yinz all, who be still looking to harvest Bambi with a stick.

Aim small, shoot small but most of all, be safe all yinz all.   [I know.. I know]

BTDT ...Not a lot of scrapes or rubs in my area either .there are 2 scrapes on the path to my stands. Thought I found another scrape last time I was out but ended up a lot of feathers on the ground figure it didn’t end well for a feathered critter 😜. Might start putting a dripper up and maybe do a mock scrape .... has to be real close for them to be getting stupid .... lol. Good luck all 👍

I'm starting to see rubs and scrapes pop up all over, most I'm sure are dinks but deer kills on 79 are amping up , saw bucks chasing bucks does chasing bucks bucks chasing does they must know that we can't assign genders anymore so they checked the "other" box 😂😂👌

Headed out this afternoon to sit in a nice funnel on the sw corner if my property. Lots of sign in the area. Had one smaller buck come out of the ravine at 630. Too dark to tell exactly what he was. Guys at work been showing me pics of bucks on the ground and I couldn't take it anymore. I've got lots of vacation left to burn, so took the rest of the week off. Good luck out there guys!

Catch a big one Crappie_Slayer.👍🎃

I didn't do it this afternoon but I did see deer this evening. Sitting in my man-chair watching the boob tube when out the window I see, cars stopped upon the highway. And in their headlights what did appear but three tiny elusive, PA white tailed deer.

I'll be checking the ditch line in the morning. Hey, back strap is back strap.🎃

Hehee..... new meaning to "grilled" ribs.

In the mean time, I just returned from afield where I learned I forgot to recharge the battery in my spot light. Stupid battery!!! But there was enough power to light up two sets of eyes in my field. Most likely a couple of deer I saw stopping traffic earlier.

Sit in stand this afternoon 3:00 until dark..didn’t take long to figure out I didn’t have enough clothes on and winds were pretty nasty 😜.. no new scrapes still the 2 I’ve been seeing. Only saw 3 deer a mama and 2 young ones ...walking down the edge of the field ... then as I was ready to leave while sitting in the car I spot movement near far corner of the field , I get out and glass what I thought I saw and sure enough it was the nice buck I have been looking for , pretty much dark and my bow is not cocked ... oh well at least I know he is still there he walked back into the thicket ....probably was saying later dude .... lol. Good luck guys so that’s my hunting story for tonight 😜🍺

Stupid deer!!!🎃

They got no idea what we go through trying to kill em with a stick. Either they don't come out early enough or they don't grow enough points.

Hunted with my video camera this AM.  Pretty chilly here in the southern PGH burbs.  Saw 6 or 7 with only one being an antlered buck.  Just a spike but I got to watch him make a couple rubs.  He hung around for 20 min. or so and ended up almost underneath me.  He was investigating my walking path and the Evercalm.
Rain in the forecast for tomorrow and Saturday.  Tonight should be a good night.  Flag football practice for my son and my daughter has a halloween dance at school so no woods time tonight.

🎃Mercy it was like crazy foggy this morning, here in my little piece of Penn's Woods. No way for a high altitude shot until after 7:30ish AM. Fog cleared from the ground up leaving a tree hugger sitting with his head in a cloud. Which yinz would think, I should be use to by now.

Got some things to do today, like blow the stupid leaves off (3rd time this week) from my deck then change the water in the goldfish bowl. But later this afternoon I'll be sitting in a tree swinging my feet, watching the world go by.

Good luck, be safe, aim small shoot small. Hope yinz get a rack, to hang on your wall.

Remember big deer or just a squirrel they are all trophy's because, it's the hunt that counts.🍻

As stated earlier, I had the day off so I made my way out for my first morning hunt. Work usually keeps me from too many mornings, so it was really nice to go out and sit in the blackness this morning. Its by far my favorite time of day to be out in the woods. There's just something about sitting in the half light right before dawn, having my ears and eyes playing tricks on me, and thinking of what could be not too far away in the dense undergrowth.

Once the sun popped out, the squirrels started scurrying about for the day. Was getting a real kick out of watching one go and bury a hard earned nut, only to have another come and dig it back up seconds after he had left. This nonstop show kept me entertained until about 8 when a nice size doe and her fawn showed up. She looked anxious as she fed on the acorns, and minutes later I saw why as a small spike came in to harass her. Shorty after, another spike and a 4pt showed up and joined in on the harassment as well. Chuckled in my head as it reminded me of the hallway chase scenes in the old Scooby doo cartoons, with a deer going out of view in one direction, the seemingly showing up from a totally different direction minutes later. This show went on for about half an hour, then they all meandered off. Ended up calling it quits just before 10.

Took the dog to chase pheasants after that, with a successful afternoon of putting them up, but not so much success hitting them. Did manage one that was dumb enough to flush right at me.

Having a late lunch \ early dinner, then back out to a stand for an evening sit. Good luck!

Tried out a fresh stand for the evening sit. Was fairly uneventful. Saw 3 tails in the brush 70 yds out just before 5, then had a small spike come by about 510. Nothing after that. First time I've sat in this stand and there is a scrape literally right in front of it, so I'm hopeful for the next 2 weeks.

I hunted behind my house this evening 3 doe and a buck that have have been legal but not really big. My son's all shook up,he's been ditching me since it Showtime and it paid off for him. He shot and recovered his biggest buck of his life. I've never heard him talk this way about a big deer. With that said it's a huge heavy rack suburbia deer over 200 pounds. The racks heavily palmated, with a hole through it and 10 inch G 2's We'll get pics up hopefully tomorrow. Good hunting to all.

He shot this deer at 6:10 and it ran towards his truck and died. He just call me and said he's 40 yards from his truck.lol I should be looking at this monster around 9:00 pm. He's a mess,he's usual pretty calm about killing big deer but this must be something special. I can't wait be see this GAINT.

Took a half day of vacation today. Had a small 8 at 18yds. Unfortunately he turned from a hard quartering to me to facing directly away in one motion thus delaying my quest to kill one with traditional equipment. So maybe Saturday will be my day, but at least I’m seeing some.
