The fishing is over so the beer drinking will commence .
Flood warnings and now we got heavy winds through sat. Rowing a rubber raft in 15-30 mph winds would be like the tidy bowl man getting flushed.
Ah well it was fun while it lasted.

Jack , you musta danced a little too much..

I will not be denied, or will I ?
Know what they say about the adk's , if you don't like the weather , wait 5 mins.
Well 45 mins ago the winds died and things were looking up so I decided to make a run for the roses. On the way the river looked clear and a little fishy so stopped made some casts and got a 10" stockie. Humm. Moved up to the slower water for bigger fish and it was dirty as all heck. Wasted 20 mins and the sun came out so figured now is the time. Make a run into placid for supplies when all that sun disappeared and the rains came . Ugh..
Seems like a break behind this rain, for a little while so now I'm sitting here at trail waiting for the sun so I can make a dash towards the pond.
Well in the time it took me to type this the rain stopped and the clouds are breaking but I'm sure once I hike back in , blow the raft up all hell will break loose ..
Screw it I'm going fishing no matter what I catch or not . Lol

Rich.sounds like a fun time right now, hope you catch a lunker.
Well so far here at home we have received NO rain from this system. It keeps side tracking us,just north of here it appears they got plenty if you can believe the radar. The weather station keeps saying storms are coming but so far nothing here.Average rainfall is 3" below normal for the year.Guess I have to do a "LOCAL" rain dance and leave you dry out.

Well it's been like that around here too.    Sunny then rain and wind , then sunny and back again.   Will try to hit Oneida tomorrow afternoon if I can

Whew, made it in and just came out. Someone was watching over the clouds. Thanks Jack !!
No state records for fact but brookies were there. Some as big as my pinky :)
Only event was broke an oar but I powered on with just a stub and the other oar.
Wind pick up , just as the fishing did, and I could no longer control the raft so called it a wrap.
Maybe an evening fish with the grandkids .
Weather be ****ed I'm here to make the best of things

current NYS record brook trout is 5-14oz from may 2012
if this 6.03 holds true it will be a new all time NYS record..

My fish today were more like the .03 size :)

Those paddles for the raft are just cheap 3 piece plastic ones. Basically a dime a dozen.
I did bring the yaks with and the paddle for mine is top of the line 3 pc aluminum so it will work on the raft also .
If I don't hear a pounding rain on the fiberglass roof tonight I'm heading back to the brookie pond in search of a record speck.lol or maybe just lunch..
Unless I head to saranac area or a big pond overlooking lake George , record brookies are not on my radar this trip.

So how's the weather down there ? Survive the floods & winds ?
I hope all is well ..

The skies just opened up for the umpteenth time.  I'm hoping that this clears out over night but the streams won't be fishable for a couple of days.  It's shaping up to be a yard work weekend.

Yes we finally are getting some rain here, not flooding type but a couple good downpours. We need all it can deliver as it was getting dry.Temps and humidity are dropping and that's good.

Yep, thats been the pattern around here.   Rain, clear a little, rain, clear a little, rain...............     some pretty good down pours too.  It is good because we needed it.

What else is new. As per every other night around 1am the pounding of water drops started hitting the fiberglass roof. Still raining and now it's down right cold outside
Ugh...
I think the fish gods brought all this on because they fear me.
I will get revenge when I come back sometime in June but they seem safe for now.
A little green bass or some walleye fishing will have to do once I return home

No worries . Been coming here for 43 years and even had a stint at residency for awhile.
No matter what the weather brings its always a beautiful place.
Heck at least now the beer will stay cold without ice :)

I know we needed it but enough already.  I just heard a local report, sun won't be out until Monday.  Cold with rain all day Saturday into Sunday.  Need some decent weather to get the vegetable garden in...

True , true. We have had a years worth in the 5 days I been up here. More heavy stuff on way with all radio stations reporting wet, heavy snow coming too.
We went out and bought an e-z up since the awning got trashed and we are hovering around the camp fire drinking pbr's with runny noses.
Gosh I hope this is only isolated to the high country as I too want to plant the garden next week.
Screw the fishing it's time for pbr's & Busch
