Perhaps someone could clear something up for me in regard to the purchase of fishing/hunting licenses. It is my understanding that a social security number has to be provided when you buy a fishing license. I don't hunt but imagine the same law is in effect. Are different rules in place for the Amish since I don't believe they contribute nor take part in Social Security?
I live in an area with a heavy population of Amish and have found them to be good neighbors and friendly. No group of people are all bad nor all good. Each person should be judged solely on their own merits, or lack there of.

This is from the PF&BC Website....

Q: I don't have a Social Security number. Can I still buy a fishing license?
A: Issuing agents will sell you a fishing license if you state you don't have a Social Security number. For example, foreign visitors who come to Pennsylvania to fish will not have a Social Security number. Every resident license buyer should have a Social Security number, and those who don't should take prompt action to get one. License buyers who fail to provide complete and accurate information at the time they purchase a license may be subject to administrative action or penalties under the Fish and Boat Code.

How many times have you had someone stick their head in your office and say "What the heck are you laughing at"? I never seem to have an answer for them.....

Sorry Harry, hope I didn't ruin your ice cream fetish.

I work from home so... never.

A couple weeks ago in Linesville, I saw a caravan (3 or 4 carts) of Amish take turns urinating (maybe more) on the ground next to someone's shed on private property

I wonder if one of them is the PIDDLER from Soutside

I was thinking, you know they tie their horses up and leave to fish....It would be a big shame if someone took those horses to a glue or dogfood factory...I bet you would get a couple $....

Only when they have watchers. One of them got ticked when I turned my car away from the pee-fest. She asked me if I'd please watch because it felt better when someone was watching. She was then shunned. Poor girl.

Most Amish I have met are very good people but it bothers my that they don't serve in any of our Armed Forces.......ever! They enjoy the freedom of religion as well as all freedoms in this country but refuse to defend our country when needed. Come deer season the bullets are flying from Amish guns everywhere!

Depends on the local sect how much they can get away with. I've seen them running big John Deere 8 row forage harvesters. I was told by one that as long as it's not attached (think land line telephone and electric lines) that they could use modern technology. There was a time that they used NO modern technology, but I think their way of life is eroding as well.
