Hi, I'm Wisdom (Will to most) got 42 years under my belt; live in Saratoga Springs but fish all over NY State for Trout, Salmon, Bass, Walleye and Pike depending on the season. I mostly practice catch and release but will keep one on occasion (Especially Walleye). Pic is of a 25lbs 6oz (Female) Chinook Salmon I caught (and released) in October on a tributary of the Salmon River near Pulaski, NY. Look forward to reading and posting....Cheers

Hi to all,
I just found this site while doing a search. My name is mike. I live in Stephentown NY. Grew up in Berkshire Co. MA. I am 46, retired postal worker. I love to fish most anything mostly fresh water, Bass, Walleye, Pike, Panfish, Trout, Stripers, Well you get the idea. I grew up in MA so am still exploring local waters. Got a Lund Alaskan 21 FT last Nov used it a little can't wait for ice out this year. Well I got some lurking and exploring to do around this site. Catch ya all later.

Hi all, I'm Steve, I came to NY, from Louisiana  for a two week job and never left, LOL Great place here wonderfull people and love the outdoors here. Love any kinda fishin at 52 I've done most. I have come to realy enjoy relaxing with a pole or two and catchin crappies, panfish. Just havent found any cypress trees to fish around, If any could point out some good crappie lakes, I'd be happier than rabbit dog on a hot trail.
I live in central NY a little town called millbrook. Thanks fellas an fishin gals.

Mr Jigs, ah what a fitting name for a pan fisher .. Welcome aboard. Feel free to ask questions , oh wait you already did (lol). Share your experiences which I'm sure are plenty and hopefully get out with some of us groupies and kick a few fishes back...
as for those slabers, Perch is the man for that. I have been a trout bum most my life but Perch shown me what real fish should taste like.
Sometimes he is a man of few words but when he speaks listen up.
Again Welcome to the East USA

I just joined today.  I have a Ragin Cajun 1994 19' bass boat and fish as much as I can.  I would love to find out how to start a Northern NY Forum for areas north of Syracuse NY.  I have replied to a few forums today and added pics in the gallery.  Good to meet you all.  I am all about Northern Pike and Musky's and Bass.  Everything else is gravy.

Welcome aboard mate. The FishSalmonRiver.com Discussion Board kinda covers that area north of Syracuse up in Oswego County area, at least some of it. It is listed under the New York Boards. salmontrutta is the moderator there; I'm sure if you drop him a PM he can tell you better what it covers. Like going after them toothy critters myself especially during hard water.
    Again Welcome Aboard, cheers

You got me there.  I was hoping for the area even more north beyond Watertown but thought I would go as far as Syracuse.  However, those areas you mentioned are still very south of watertown.  Maybe however we can include it.  I just know I have a lot of fun stories I would love to share this year as I fish with my bass boat among lakes and rivers in my area.

To be honest most of us would love to hear them. While this is Eastern NY most of us will travel all over to get a line wet given the opportunity. North, South, East and West if it swims we'll fish for it.

Ragin:

The spot you want to hit is Black Lake, as that has great bass, walleye, pike and crappies according to my fishing buddy from PA.  He goes up there for the whole month of May and says it is the best lake in New York for those species.
Haven't been there my self, but I'm sure there are others on this site that can give you some ideas about Black Lake.

Cajun: Welcome to the forum... The Best there is ? Is there such a thing ? Well I would say we are a good group of Merry Pranksters who have a common interest in the great fishing New York has to offer us. That alone has taken us on a journey of making new friends and some awesome times together. What a ride so far..... While I understand you are away from the "local eastern" area Please join in on the forum and share your life happening outdoors experiences. I am always about learning & sharing.
It's a small world and we at some point will all share water together...

Hey Cajun!  You name it, and someone on this board fishes for it...

I think it's safe to say that pretty much every Upstate species is pretty well covered by at least ONE guy here.

But in truth, it is probably more like MOST of them!  Hope we all get a chance to cross paths and get a few boats together sometime this summer.  It tends to happen on occassion with this gang!
