Dandy buck, congratulations. 👍

Try an edit and rotating such photos then saving. Sometimes that will fix the problem.

Still a great photo.

I tried saving it every direction, it was either sideways or upside down. So I gave up

Tell your wife congratulations!

Hoping to make it out more this week myself but issues at work may put a damper on how much time I can get out...

Got another nice one for the kids on camera and took my daughter to this spot on Thursday afternoon but, no deer seen, only kicked one out on the way in (was a little fawn that I got on this camera) and was surrounded by 4 raccoons that evening sit.

I know some are seeing some good buck movement lately but I am just not seeing it yet in my areas. Cameras are slow as well with most buck movement at night. I got three sits planned this week then my rutcation starts Tuesday next week with down to dusk sits.

Re: Archery season 2019 2019/10/28 09:35:19 (permalink)
Sometime bright and early around 8:30 AM while peering out my kitchen winnn..... err #2 hunting stand, a huge bodied whitetail walks from behind my tool shed, head down, not stopping but for a few seconds swinging it's head side to side before moving a few steps and stopping again.

Didn't take but a second for my natural instincts, and years of experience, to tell me the actions of this animal says it's a buck.... that and the antlers on it's head.

Knowing there wasn't much time because this deer is on a mission and would surely soon disapear into the underbrush, I reached for my trusty phone which wasn't where it should of been because, I never put stuff back.

Well, as usual, I was right and the deer was moving out of range towards the woods by the time I returned to the kitchhh.... stand to shoot a picture.

Well, sorry to say it's not a good picture by any means but the good part, seeing this buck, actually caused me to feel a faint glimmer of excitement.... how gooder is that?😁

Speaking of experience and instincts, I did note the deer was not feeding at anytime but did not appear to have any sign of a swollen neck or darkened tarsals.

In addition, this buck had to walk right through the area (pictured below) where 4 other deer were (and still) feeding.

Another POI, there's no longer a finger print smudge obsecuring the camera lense.... it's dam foggy out.

Good luck and hunt safely.

Had a smallish 7pts come in this foggy morning at 9:00 AM.....hung around till 9:20...at one point it was 10yards from my ground blind....I hope I don't regret this...but still the best is ahead...hopefully things will start to improve.....I noticed his white neck patch was scared up from another buck....maybe a bigger one?

Got a pic of buck #7 on my property Sunday morning. My small patch of land seems to be a magnet for them to travel thru.

Them little bastards are definitly nasty. Pulled one out of my calf last week after doing some work around the woods. Bought a tick puller for the dog a while back and think I've used it on myself more than her. I'm a freak for showering as soon as I get home from hunting anymore.

Backed into my driveway about 6:00 PM and over by the woodpile, I'm being watched.

Was hoping but no sign of the buck I saw this morning.

Another afternoon sit nothing great but at least didn’t get blown out of stand like last few hunts ... lol nothing on my camera last 5 days no new signs in area either hoping it picks up soon . Did make a mock scrap and hit with some scent going to put the dripper up soon also ... no rubs either. Rattled some tonight but no good , but did see 6 in the field when leaving glassed them 2 moma Doe and looked like 2 sets of twin fawns that was pretty cool to see ... over all still a good time 👍. Good luck out there and be safe . Oh ya Congrats to your wife anzomcik On her nice buck !!!

Deer ticks..... Horrible year with them around my parts.

If you guys don't already do it, treat your clothes with Permethrin. Most of your tick problems will go away. I used to be one of those guys that would pull ticks off of my clothing then find one dug in at home. Since using permethrin, now I watch them curl up and fall off of my clothes. Treat everything. Boots, pants, hats, shirts, jackets, etc...........

Its a cheap precaution against a very bad disease that is becoming more common. I use Sawyers brand but many folks mix thier own from concentrate bought online. Just used the water based concentrate if you can.

I watched about a dozen ticks fall off my pants this past weekend while archery hunting.

Your absolutely right 99% of the time I spray down with it not that day. It works wonders I sware by the stuff, morning sit I hunted a stand I shot by buck outa last year it's a funnel between two blocks of woods ha jokes on me not a single lick of sign tracks nothing I believe there all crossing up at the corn 300 yards away it was loaded with sign they just logged that section out and bedding is pretty far off so I'm guessing it's after dark movement there was like 30 scrapes around the hay section of it , walked in to afternoon sit at noon talked to the owner he's cutting all the corn here today so that's a plus , sneaking in the creek I bumped a 4pt and a doe and we snort weeze battled untill I had enough and blew him off that was funny couldn't see or smell me he thought I was coming to steal his girl lol

I'd rather be lucky then good, but im to good to be lucky

Passed a 7 point up at last light that was missing his left front below the knee. Poor guy was trying to scrape using his stump. I saw him last year as well. He hardly put any antler on from last year.

Was hoping the rain would hold off last night for my evening sit but as I was climbing my sticks @ 400pm, it started spitting rain.  Stuck it out until 545 with the steady showers then still hunted my way back to the truck but on a long route to check out another area.  Didn't see a deer.  Blahhhh.....

Well Happy Halloween... didn’t do a sit last evening and weather kinda sucks today probably going to wait until next week to hit again. Monday & Tuesday sits produce nothing but I did find a tick embedded in my shoulder Tuesday night while taking a shower... lol Wife managed to get it out being an old Timer with some health issues called Dr and he called a prescription in, had same thing happen last year also guess they like me ...Guess my grandson called a small non-shooter buck in last night ... good luck out there , be safe and watch out for those crazy ticks !!

Planning on trying to stick a doe Saturday now that I have my buck all burgerized and in the freezer. Invited my buddy out to hopefully catch one of the buck moving thru. Should be a good weekend with the colder weather moving in. Good luck out there!
