Only a small 2 or 3 day window when they are runnin wild. Actually, hard to get a good shot sometimes cause they are constantly running....WF...It is cool to be out there when they are crazy. Something to watch.

9:20 AM.......  Just past my 30 yd. marker.......  They wtere running around like tourist who got back too late and missed the bus. Thinking they were kicked out of the fields, by the combine working,  on the other side of the beaver pond last night.  Sure was hoping there might be a shooter not far behind...  was still hoping when a non-shooter (2-up) came walking out, at 5:10 PM, right where these deer () went in.  He messed around in the thickets for a while but, he did not work a near-by scrape.  With the wind to his back he walked briskly between the 20 and 30 yd markers, continued across the hay field, jumped the fence and disappeared into the green-brier in the next field.  No pictures, I was busy trying to grow a third point, with bow in hand. Back at 'er tomorrow morning. Still plenty of time........  good luck to all.

Saw seven bucks the first four weeks of season in shooting range. Killed the eighth buck I've seen in the last two days in shooting range. Saw three chasing this evening in a short drive before dark. The seek/chase part of the rut is in full force in this area. Sorry, no pics due to being a computer dunce. 8 point  2-1/2 YO

It really is everything--put my grandson in my stand this evening and he saw----he leaves fall. I saw ZERO from that stand in 6 sits the first four weeks. Funny what a cute little female thing can do to a male, be he two legged or four.

Wags I have been there several times these critters will drive you nuts -but when it all comes together its all worth it-carry on!

BTDT-got to agree "Still PLENTY of time..." if it was easy I would not be interested.

S-10 GOOD FOR YOU!
As far as pics just download them to putor'-and upload to photobucket or similar-then its copy paste not that hard maybe have someone you know show you its easy once you figure it all out.

Here's my day in nutshell-seemed like the rut was on pause til last minutes.I still enjoyed it all part of the madness it will happen sooner or later here...

4 hrs this morning -a doe and 2 peewees 7:15 they strolled thru several shooting lanes 15-30 yds.
3hrs this afternoon -same 3 Appeared in food plot 5:15(glad to see the plot being used these 3 hit it daily)-another doe 5:25 -then last 3 min a buck was going thru brush behind me out of sight I looked through scope I could not see good enough snuck out before he came out.

Going out tomorrow morning hoping that doe brings a buck back with her....WCW

I must be so excited I can't sleep or, maybe it's the two bowls of chili I had before hitting the sack. I dunno but, here I am on the boards and it's better than 4 hours to daybreak.

WCW and Wags I think we are in transitional areas; aka. the places not to be during the pre-rut. I'm bettin' we're just outside the core area of the deer; not necessarily on their main travel route but, the secondary route.

Bucks are with the doe in the other areas and as soon as those doe are serviced the bucks will be nose to the wind again.

Our turn is about to happen.

Hang tight, keep cool and, in the name of 'science' turn in your 'harvest' report(s).

Way to go S-10!

Now get that grandson one.

Saw nothing but females from the porch since Friday. Bet the bucks find them in the next week.

From what we have seen there is one non-shooter, a pair if twin eights, and a bruiser.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Saw 2 females and a spike or Y on saturday afternoon. I'm not seeing any chasing. The 2 doe were on their regular pattern and the buck was looking for my grunt call and was not interested in the does. Weird.

I thought yesterday was going to be the day, but it turned out to be pretty slow for me.  I only saw a few young bucks and a questionable 8-point that I'm glad never offered a shot.  I'll be back at it Friday.

Congrats S-10,
Yesterday saw 1 shooter out of range 5 mins after he left all kind of commotion breaks loose from the direction he went( horns rattlin, gruntin snort wheezes brush breakin )headed right at me and in run 2 doe and a 4pt suddenly the 1 doe(B.B.) lays back his ears, stands all his hair on end starts stiff leggin right at the 4pt and proceeds to intimidate the heck out of the forkhorn all the while he's snort wheezing his lil head off. ****est thing I ever saw. He runs the doe into the swamp followed by the 4 and I'm trying to figure out who was rattlin when in comes a big spike nose to the ground following the doe. must of been the 4 and the spike rattlin never did see the big one again.
This morning all I saw in the wind was 1 nervous doe. Hopefully the afternoon is better.

G-son took the morning off but  the hot doe was somewhere else along with her suitors. I saw one spike along the road oblivious to me backing up and watching it. How can they be so cautious 11 months of the year and so dumb the 12th.

Neck on that buck says he's gonna be on the hunt come day or night Doc, good luck.  Calling for rain in the AM for me tomorrow, think I'm gonna head south about a mile and see what I can find.  Not seeing any of the shooters that were posing for my field cams earlier this month.  Wind has been out of the south and I'm thinking () my 'back straps' may have moved looking for love.
