The rut will happen at the same time as it always does.  The vast majority of breeding will take place on Nov 14 +/- a couple of days here in PA based on lots of historic data.

I saw a forkhorn pushing around a group of does this past weekend.  It's pretty common for the teenage boys to start prematurely hassling the ladies.  And it's always possible that a doe will come into estrous early and will attract the attention of the big boys, but the peak of the chasing phase (and mature buck activity) is still 2-3 weeks away IMO.

Yep...Rut will be in the same general time frame each year. Bucks use scrapes all year and rub horns on trees majority of the year. You see more and more in mid October because there transitioning from summer patterns to fall territorial patterns. You can call it rutting behavior but it has no indication they are breeding. If a doe would come into estress in September, a buck would breed her, but they don't.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

Agree with esox near Halloween is when I see the bigger bucks really start to cruise and I start to see a good numbers of bucks on stand.  But I do have an area that always seems to have a hot doe the 1st week of season. I have arrowed a couple mature bucks all over doe (one was trying to mount the doe) the 1st week in this location and have seen multiple mature bucks pushing the same doe during that time a few times. Anyone else have an area that seems to always have an early hot doe?

Nothing around Pittsburgh that I have seen as far as rutting activity. Woods are still terribly thick and green. Need cold and frost to start to turn things a bit. Probably my slowest start ever as far as deer seen. Surprised by the lack of rubs and scrapes in my areas as well. Bucks are there on camera but not very active.  Yet..................

I don't hunt, but haven't seen any rubs on the trees in the areas that I usually see them this time of year. Maybe no bucks in my small area currently? Saw 4 doe staring me down on my morning walk almost 2 weeks ago. shoulder to shoulder right next to each other, kinda neat. Saw them almost every morning for 3 weeks easy. But not once in the last 10 days or so. No bucks though... weird since all the land is "posted" right of ways, except for that tree stand at the top of my hill...

Not seeing much at my usual haunt. Minimal amount of does and fawns with only a y-buck and a long antlered spike. Last year at this time I had my two doe in the freezer and had passed on several legal but small bucks. The best is yet to come.

That sucks Eman, hopefully the cooler weather will start to keep the idiots at bay for you.

Yesterday was a rough one for me.  It was ridiculously bright yesterday morning with the full moon and as expected I didn't see anything.  The afternoon brought rain and high winds with it and I only saw one lone doe.  I did see quite a few new rubs and "scratches" so I'm thinking that things are going to be picking up by next weekend.

Was that you in the stand when they went through?  Did you say anything to them?  Kind of a funny pic...hunting quads...that looks like a trophy!

Ridin tandem, in shorts with no helmets.... Gee you think they'd know the basics of ATV safety.
That really suxs but you have to ask yourself 1 question..who puts a stand on an ATV trail and doesn't expect to have issues? Unless you own the property all bets are off.

Ok, 1st thing I see wrong here is, your stand is parked on the atv trail. You had similar issues last year If I remeber correctly. Gotta move it. 2nd thing is your trail camera is still up. That camera should be scouting for you in a different spot on the property. As bad arse as the cameras are the deer know they are there. When you know for certain your hunting a certain spot, time to move the cam. 3rd thing is, yer stand has no backdrop. You stick out like a sore thumb in the sky. If yer gonna hunt in that stand, yer best bet is to stand up. Dunno if yer seat folds back or not. The stands I have like that, I try to become 1 with the tree and use it for cover to hide from oncoming deer. Best of luck, I gotta get my shower and haul azz to the woods.

Good points there BH........... My camera is down for now, My one stand has camo around it with a zipper front opening ,the other one is pretty open but I do try to use the tree to block me but it's harder to hunt from, I get busted easier, try to use it more in rifle season ..

Uh Oh, I found one more thing that could be helpful. Need to raise that stand another 5 feet. Doesnt look up high enough. I like to go minimum 20-22 ft. I have a buddy, back in his younger days swore if you go 30 you wont ever get busted.
