Really funny living only a few miles from Pulaski and not seeing much of the rain they got. Same with the LE snow too.  It's wet, ponds are full everything is in good shape

I spoke with friends who live 1 block south of 13 and they got almost no rainon Tuesday.  The storm really sat right on top of the business section of P-Town and dumped all the water right there, there was little rain at the compactor, and next to none in Altmar.  The rain overloaded the stormwater drainage system, hence the flash flooding up the hill at the 11-13 intersection.  Got a lot Friday night where I was, but it may not have been heavy in a lot of other spots.  I could see this small rain cell as I came down off the hill on Jerrylook Road into Richland to get beer and ice, and it followed me back, and then dumped on Smartville for hours off and on. At least some of this is being blamed on the smoke from the CA wildfires.

Sure hope all the precip falling ain't a sign of things to come.

Corn tassels turning dark brown and silk will soon be too as the geese gather in large flocks feeding on hoppers and crickets in the fields.

Least not forget the spiders and all those quarts of sauces and salsa now in winter store.

Any guess when the Sumac turns red?

Be safe yuse guys, a gallon of water weighs 8.33 pounds and flash floods produce 1000s of gallons of water in seconds.

Turn around Don't drown.

I gotta git, rains coming......

Sumacs along Oswego County Route 15 in Smartville are red already, lots of maples also turning on the hill!  Bring it on!

Sumac and Maples both turning red, dam where did the time go?

As for the weather alerts, so far so good for me but sure looks like Dardy, is gonna need some Galoshes before days end.

Be safe and "keep an eye to the sky".

The forecast here has been fluctuating from 1.75 inches to .25 inches and back and forth. The time has changed from 9 AM until right now through 10 PM. So far we have gotten 0.01 inches.

With the mountains around here, it may break up, miss by 1/2 mile, or just hang and pour. It is impossible to predict these summer storms.

My friend in VA says it rain most day yesterday and today. Usually means the same for us tonight and tomorrow.
Lots of red on the U.S. radar.
Should be able to launch the ark by this weekend.

On the good news side, it stopped raining here and the forecast is clear for at least a week.

On the other hand, probably saw over 100 geese this morning, way too many to be locals.

It looks like summer is heading away fast as a washout.

Re:Weather thread 2018/08/23 09:37:55 (permalink)
It's a beautiful day in Pennsylvania here in my little piece of Penn's Woods.  Sky is clear with visibility of 10 mi. and the sun is bright with temps hovering at 59' F.   The gooder part, the humidity is sitting at 90% but yet the air is cool and quite comfortable.  Grass and trees and all things in between are heavy laden with moisture as the dew point weighs in at 56 degrees.  Wind direction is WSW and sustained at 6MPH.

Add to the spiders; daytime chirping crickets; red Sumac (some Maples too); all those flocking () geese; qts & qts of sauce and salsa in winter store; salmon in the SR; and now the sun shifting further south this time of morn, casting shadows where shadows have not been cast before.......

Not saying when fall will get here, though officially we know what the calendar says.

But there are those signs that autumn is soon to be and those signs are not limited to spiders nesting, crickets chirping, Sumac and Maples changing color, or qts of sauce and salsa now in basement stores.

Just this Friday past, an even more positive sign appeared in my sky's, shoring up fall is just around the corner.

I didn't see it at first but the flutter of it's blades, signaled a Pennsylvania State Police chopper flying low, over yonder cornfields.

Good times and tight lines.

Re:Weather thread 2018/08/29 17:28:59 (permalink)
I KNOWD IT..... DADBURN, I KNOWD IT.   It's enough to drive a guy to drinkin'.    That is, unless your one them fellars what knows how to enjoy the cold wintery days, and is well stocked with sauce and salsa.

Won't be long!!!!

The Farmers' Almanac released its 2019 winter outlook this week, and it's a doozy: It predicts a "long, cold, and snow-filled winter," with the worst of the "teeth chattering" arriving in mid-February and higher than normal levels of snow in many areas.

                                                                  Not to worry though, 'cause...........

That's in contrast to the Old Farmer's Almanac, which released it's winter forecast last week... and predicted a milder winter in most areas, with mostly warmer-than-normal temperatures and not as much snow (but more rain) than is typical.

Somebody please make up my mind

Did I mention the wind just came ripping through my little piece of Penn's Woods?  First from the South then from the North.  My Martin house which was located 2 feet to the north of my detached garage, is now laying 50 feet to the East of my back deck.  WTH???  Now I think the "proverbial cow" is using my house as the flat rock.... rain, rain gooooo away.

Dam there goes my satellite TV reception which is guaranteed to not be affected by the weather.  STUPID satellite TV reception!!!

Tell me about it BTDT, I read the old almanac and my heart sunk. Haven't seen the new but now I'm rejuvenated.
Bring on the ICE so I can walk on water again this December.

It's gross outside and I'm getting minimal tasks done .
Hope your holding up ok Clint.

TOO HOT and TOO WET most of the Summer.
Now TOO hot and NO rain.
Lawn turning brown and leaves drying up and falling.
Never thought I would be hoping for rain this season--

It's not working Jack,
It's brutal and disgusting out. Just got home and I'm soaking wet just doing light chores.
We don't need any rain here, ground is still holding water and streams are ok. We just need to stop this evaporation heat. Had to hit a record and it's continuing through tomorrow before the thunderstorms start about when I get home of course.
As I always do complain, this summer sucked !! Spring wasn't to bad as the stripers we plenty and the mud stayed away.
I need a good fall right up to second week of December then a deep freeze before the snow flies.

Ok, I'm done with summer... Rant over and back outside 😛

I picked a few dozen ears of corn to can  and was absolutely ringing wet after I husked them. Piggy ate the cobbs up like there were candy. Just carrots left to dig and can. Then taters to dig and squash to find in the weeds. Ave a butch of sunflowers also. Dry and keep the seeds for the birds and replanting. They were moms favorite so I like them aound

I'm sitting in my kitchen, drinking my first coffee, watching a once bluebird sky become a 'dark and stormy morning'. Wasn't long before the rains fell, making a distant tree line disappear. Lasted for several minutes when out popped the sun that couldn't dry up all the rain because, down pours came down once again.
