Gages are really up. Some precip in the forecast here and there this week. Looks like we might have some decent conditions for the Pin weekend!

I'm thinking the time will change to 7am as opposed to 8am.

Papinner.. I was thinking of stopping by and observing, but probably won't use a pin. Is that OK?

To all who plan to attend the pin outing ,Dec 5,2009. I want to wish you all good luck and tight lines. To papinner and all others who put in their time and hard work to bring it about, my hat is off to you. To all the new pinners who plan on going, don't be afraid to ask questions of those there to help you, learn and take all you can away from this outing. This is a great opportunity to get hands on experience. I wish I could be there, but tomorrow I am heading to California to do some pinning for sea run steelhead with my son, the most important thing about the trip is to meet my new grandson, born Sept.5,2009 . One last thing that I would like to ask? Swinger, why not stop by and say hello and meet some of the pinners? You know we are all fishermen and we need to stick together and are only doing what we like, same you when swinging a fly.

The outing is actually on the 5th not the 6th.

As far as centerpin fishing goes it does require a different reel you can put the reel on any rod that you prefer but 11'6" wild river is the rod I prefer. We all for the most part run a floating mono on our reels. As far as the difference between the fly reel and the centerpin is that the centerpin is a reel with no drag that pays out line with out any drag, and are usually larger then most fly reels.

Yes a lot of us use bait, but we also use flies, jigs, beads, and anything else you would want to throw at the fish with the exception of spoons and spinners.

So to answer your last question it is only centerpin fishing if you have a centerpin reel, but you can present your presentation "almost" the same way with a spinning set up.

so if i take the click &pawl out of my fly reel, add about 5 split shots under a float with egg sacs as bait on my fly rod and let it drift a half mile down stream, i can join you?

hey, nice fishen with you, you definitely know what you're doing.

Report: Fished elk from daylight until 11 today. The stream is high, muddy and full of leaves and other debris. Did not catch anything and did not see anyone catch anything, it is unfishable. And what's with the dumb*** rifle hunting in a tree stand beside the parking lot at the mouth of elk, that an accident waiting to happen.

this was on the reports page.

Papinner,
I'm gonna bow out on Saturday.  A high of 35F is predicted and that's just too cold for me.   I appreciate your efforts though.

35F makes me shiver too, but I already bought too much food to bow out now

Going to be a blast anyway. Don't want to miss it!

Any guess's on the water conditions for tomorrow morning? I saw from the webcam that the water is dropping. I don't mind driving 3 1/2 hours for no fish or bad conditions but my son wants to come up and try it for only his second time and I'd like him to fish in decent conditions till he gets the hang of it.

All ready with the goodies:

Flour tortillas stuffed with chicken (roasted all day in a yummy sauce), caramelized onions & peppers and lots of cheese! Rolled up then pan fried in butter. Drool...

Now who wants to bow out?

Hey guys, this is probably kind of late to ask this, but I'm wondering about the whitemans bridge location (I'm not familiar with the area)...

This is where I'm guessing (hoping) it is on google maps:

That's it Harry. Turn south onto the road between Elk creek sports ( BP station ), and the access. Follow it past the Conrail tubes, and turn left at the stopsign. Parking lot is on the left just past the creek.
