D-Nymph dont let go that way. I dont know if I can handle losing him. One thing for sure the guys that know what they are doing in NY pound fish with the pins. Good luck with the outing guys.

Tommy, your PM box is full,if you get the t-shirt ,put me down for an XL. The most pins I've seen on Elk at one time was 7,this should be quite the sight.Hopefully the rains come and stay for awhile.

I don't know man, if a guy is determined to ruin all the good bamboo mojo he's created, just because he witnessed a slaughter in NY, I'm not sure there is anything any of us can do.  Hold an intervention?

I'd like to finally meet you anadromous after all these years.  I think its safe to say that anyone is welcome, but I'm just wondering if there will be room or will we just have to make 10' drifts all mornin'  I'm gonna need at least a football field length!

d-nymph,

why do you, personally, hate centerpinning?

I know you swing, what's the difference in annoyance between a 40+ ft. swing and 40+ ft. drag free drift?

You are getting awfully predictable. Could have bet the farm you would have a reply to Jim's question.

I don't hate any style of fishing.  Some things some people just can't relate to, I don't relate to pins, or bass masters racing boat style.  I'll talk flathead fishing all night if you want.  Honestly, in this thread, I just felt like cracking a few jokes with anadromous, because I know he's confident enough to play along.

The difference, since you asked, is one style is like walking down the street with a sweet stetson hat on and the other is like walking down the street wearing a hockey helmet and skein on your chin.

Have a fun outing, boys.

papinner,

You can add Blackie and BigSal to the list so you have a solid number.  Will also ask Adam Demarco, maker of the Paine Falls Centerpin, if he'd like to make an appearance.

I may come...Just depends on if something magical happens in the last 2 days of archery here, or the first 5 days of Rifle...I still have an open buck tag...If I fill it, I will be there, if not...I will be chasing my tail in the woods...I still only have about 3 hours on my new pin setup...Did pretty well though...

I actually spoke with Adam for awhile last night and one of the things that he mentioned was that he wanted to get into the Fly reel market as well.  If he does, you can bet it will be top notch.

Well it looks like I will have an extra rig for the outing, the person that was going to borrow mine wont be able to attend. So if anyone is interested I'll have 2 rigs with me.

I wish I could attend the pin outing on Dec6. it sounds awesome, as I have no experience with pin fishing.  But I can't ....  Instead I have made solid plans to make it to the tribs this sat Nov 28th.  any chance some of you guys will be up there?

I have fished for stockie trout and did the lure thing for walleye/bass..but have sporadic success with steelhead.  I have a fly fishing outfit, but I take it, this pinning technique does not use fly fishing equiptment?  its a little odd, because it sounds like you guys are fishing bait on a fly fish outfit.
Do you guys use fly line, and if not, do you just put mono on a fly fishing reel??  At any rate, can't you drift eggs (or egg patterns) on BOTH spinning and flyfishing equiptment.  is it only centerpinning, if you have particular equiptement??

anyway, I'd love to know more of both and either fly fishing/pinning and if someone is in the area; I'd love to know more...

AND it'd be good to bump into someone that knows what they are doing, whether it'd be fly/bait/pin/lure...

The outing is actually on the 5th not the 6th.

As far as centerpin fishing goes it does require a different reel you can put the reel on any rod that you prefer but 11'6" wild river is the rod I prefer. We all for the most part run a floating mono on our reels. As far as the difference between the fly reel and the centerpin is that the centerpin is a reel with no drag that pays out line with out any drag, and are usually larger then most fly reels.

Yes a lot of us use bait, but we also use flies, jigs, beads, and anything else you would want to throw at the fish with the exception of spoons and spinners.

So to answer your last question it is only centerpin fishing if you have a centerpin reel, but you can present your presentation "almost" the same way with a spinning set up.

I'll be out somewhere on saturday let me know where your going to fish and maybe I'll see you there.
