ORIGINAL: The Tuna

Papinner,
I've watched most all of the online videos and understand the basics of centerpinning, how to rig a leader, but what I am in dire need of is some casting instruction.  Much like a novice golfer can't learn to hit a golf ball from a book or a video.   I need to try various casts and have somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong.   Will I be getting that kind of instruction at this outing?  If so, sign me up.    I own a 13' Wild River and a JW Youngs CP Reel.    Would be happy to add 5+ yards to some of my casts.

I can help you with that and if theres something I cant there are enough others that will be there to help with that. Also I'm not sure if your spin casting or side casting if your side casting then noodleone is sending me some pin loops to help out with that. I'm not sure how many types of casts your looking at doing but for me I do the pull cast or modified wallis most of the time. I can definatley help you with that one.

Been thinking about making this my next conquest.  Would it be ok for a "fly" guy to tag along and maybe get to borrow one for a few drifts?

MO

Without a doubt i'll hand over my rig for you to fish

I am not bashing. I am just telling you what I got going on. What is wrong with spinning reels tying sacs and watching bobbers. Sounds like a pinning thing to do.

Pep and bacon sounds good to me.

Hey guys, Ive been thinking about pinning for a while now, this looks like a good outing to learn...you mind if i tag along and give it a cast or 2? I dont own a rig yet, but i would like to try and do some learning before dropping some major cash on it.

I have a special guest and good buddy coming if nobody opposes.  He is often seen on the Floatfishing.net site giving tutorials on casting.  I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving a few quick lessons.  You may have seen him, his name is Nick Blackie.  Should be a good time!

Wow thats great. I've seen his casting videos he's definately the guy to watch to spin the pin. Also I recieved the pin loops today for those of you that are brand new and want to fish with out all the tangles a beginner experiences.

Will do swinger...he was over the camp Sat. evening and said he ran into you somewhere on the OH streams.  Commented on the impressive flies you tie...You should join us for the outing in Dec, if nothing else just for the night time festivities...show all these guys what a nice guy you REALLY are!

You kidding me!!!!!  I got these guys buffaloed. I am a jerk.
We were talking about them toothy guys. I told him about my big one and how I feel lucky to have broken the 50" line. He wants a 50" bad. I think you should put him on one. You thinking about going back to ole Pigeon next season? It would be a blast if the 3 of us could work the edge over by 3 Sisters.

I'd be all up for that, no kidding!  Haven't been back to the Kawarthas for 3 years now.....St. Clair has spoiled me!  I am ready to go back though.  I could also show you some of those other lakes....I will put Nick on fish very soon, as far as a "big one" thats up to him and his own Carma.  He has been doing pretty well for himself though, especially for a young buck.

The guy for sure has the get up and go attitude. He told me how he works an area, and boy let me tell you I would have moved on. I'm not trolling though.

You want to plan something someday, I'm all for it.  Just let me know.  When I fish the Kawarthas, a majority of the fishing is done casting, but trolling is never ruled out.  Thats fine though, we can let Nick run the extra rod and increase his chances at his 1st 50".  One thing I can guarantee is that quality Canadian beer would be drank and good times would be had!

Yeah, I will make the early morning drive Saturday morning to fish with everyone. I have a cheap pin, but never used it, and this would be a great opportunity for heckling me and my lack of skills. I will bring some dried meats and cheeses for a nice appetizer plate. I am really looking forward to meeting and fishing with you all, especially ShutUpNFish.

I may learn this pin thing in order to combat fish in NY. The pins do well there under the Bigtop. Seriously. , someone PM me where the bridge is. I am not joking when I say I am open to this technique and would like to observe as much as I may bust balls, I respect the approach and am intiqued by the equipment, the casting and the "science of shotting". I may add a pin to the line up one of these days.

I hope to be able to make it as I need some help with the casting/shotting parts. I doubt if I can stay for the get together afterward as its a little over 3 hour drive to get home and I'll probably be driving up alone again.

Remember, remember the fifth of December,
The pinners, their floats, and their shot...

I'll be hunting, otherwise, I might have tried to venture north to witness this. I dont have much interest in trying the method, but I've never seen how its done.

Not sure what you are insinuating D...you don't like my Radar O'riley hat or what?

Actually, I do like that hat.

I'm just kind of stunned you'd consider the dark side so readily.  It's a dangerous thing.  Pin once then all of a sudden you're a redd raping bank slitter with skein all ofer your chin.  I've seen it happen, ain't pretty.  It's risky to the karma, that's all.  Be careful out there.
