It was very gratifying watching the steelhead shooting up over the falls on Walnut yesterday.

Mixed reports this time of year are confusing and misleading to those who are new to steelie fishing.  As the fish are moving into the streams they are often here today, gone tomorrow.  The early and late season can be a bit tricky since the fish are MOVING!!!  It is not surprising at all to have a report that one person saw or caught fish at location X and someone else go to that spot and find no fish.  If you plan on fishing early in the season, plan on moving around and looking for fish.

Actually rain=fish is not always true.  There are other factors that influence fish movement such as length of day, water temperature, time of the year, turbidity of the water, and so on.  Generally, with more water you will see more fish coming into the streams, but it is still early in the season so rain is not always the trigger.

I am sure some fish came in with the last rain fall, but would bet the farm there was no big run like you would expect to see in a few weeks.

I agree with Bughawk. Being that there have been only a few fish in the lake front of the creeks that the majority of fish that did run where the fish that have been stacked in the lower stretches of the streams.
