That article mentions the Battle's Farm, but not the Gilmore Farm.  Anyone know if they are one and the same?

It is mentioned 2 grants for 2 different properties in Girard.
It is very good news. Some nice but very difficult stream water to access by foot. Long difficult hike down and back.

Proud to have been a FOT/
I've been out fishing.

The walk down isn't too bad compared to the walk up.
They still should try to get an easement on the east bank from 90 to Brandy.
There's a high wall on that bank but a nice shelf formed along that wall making it an easy place to navigate down to the end of the Gilmore property.
The other side of the bank below 90 is Green's family.
Above 90, there is still property on the west bank that is not Gilmore Farms. It's not posted but an easement there would be the best course of action to protect the passage from Little Elk to 90 as you do need to cross the stream because of the high wall on the east bank.
Hope I got that right.

The nice part is there are no homes within sight of that whole area just the creek, woods, and high shell banks. I've never seen any litter there to speak of and being somewhat of a gorge you hardly hear any noise from anywhere. The walk out is a steep climb and taking breaks is recommended to those older or not in shape.  The Green's downstream of I-90 bridge is a posted private area so walking up stream is out for the majority of the public.

Concerns - I'm not positive that the old trail going down farther south where the gate is , is on the Gilmore property....it's the easiest way in and out and years ago we used it, but it wasn't posted. We also walked the trail that parallels the I-90 highway fence . Both these trails are accessed from parking along Beckman Rd.  That too may become a concern....parking.

Also unless it's marked with signs walking upstream from Gilmore's property toward the Gundgenville bridge will test that land owner's patience because he strictly enforces no trespassing ! I'm sure others will walk up accidently as they wonder around looking for better holes to fish. Never had an issue with the guy, but I have met him doing just that wondering .....and giving him a hard time is not recommended. He politely told me his creek area is posted ( no signs to be seen then ) and I apologized and told him no problem I now know the boundaries.  He had some sweet fishing holes there ....loaded too !...lol

I'm pretty sure that upper trail is Gilmore land.
I had heard that the PFBC has plans for a parking lot and access improvements to the creek.

I was told years ago that little section was another owner's property....some local residents told me a dentist owned it and didn't care about people walking in to fish....that was many years ago when hardly anyone was around. Maybe that will all be open.

Kudos to the Fish commish for getting this easement and grant funds! And also for the quick response. I emailed last night and they responded today.

“The easement on the Gilmore property will be in place for the beginning of the next steelhead season in the fall of 2019.”

Was a nice area.
It's not what it used to be.
3 good holes spread through a mile of water. Not sure it's worth the hard climb in and out.
And if they don't get an easement on the west bank, so much for navigating the entire stretch as that west bank is posted as "No Trespassing".
