It's interesting that they are on record saying they would not support any bill that just mandated Sunday hunting. Now they are supporting a bill worded to do just that.

My guess is that within the next 2 years the PFSC will be "just another club" doing what a few want and ignoring the majority of members/delegates...

I doubt out club will re-new their membership either come December ... that will mean a county the size of Jefferson will then have TWO CLUBS as members... unless they lose them too....

Once AGAIN == here is what happen at the convention....

Regarding Sunday Hunting and HB 1760: A motion was made to support amending the bill to eliminate the word "shall" from bill and insert the wrod "may". This is in referencee to allowing the PGC to promulgate regulations allowing Sunday hunting.
22 In Favor 5 Opposed 2 Abstentions
IF THIS BILL IS NOT AMENDED, WE WILL OPPOSE IT!!!

they voted to support CHANGING the bill .. not supporting the bill.. and notice the vote 22 to 5

then someone says that today ..

UNBELIEVABLE....

how can anyone say they are being pulled.. they are committing suicide...
they are ignoring the wishes of the delegates and the members.....

TERRIBLE !!!!

"PFSC would like to clarify, that although our delegates have some concerns with the current wording in HB 1760, our position on the transfer of regulatory authority for Sunday hunting, from the Legislature to the PGC, is still one of support for that transfer. We believe the PGC is the appropriate regulatory authority who should be deciding if, when and where Sunday hunting should be allowed, based on a wildlife management decision like all other seasons and bag limits."

Looking at that statement closer.  It does seem that they are not throwing support behind 1760 specifically, but the premise behind it.

At one time they had well over 100,000 members. They went against the wishes of their members in supporting HR/AR and fell to around 90,000 and dropping. Now they seem to be ignoring their members again. They currently claim to repesent 73,000 members. Sounds like Doc's analogy of committing suicide is spot on. My guess is they will soon be just another small enviromental club

BUT what the memebrship said was === NO SUPPORT in any way unless the wording gets changed...

at least that was the decision at the convention.. but obviously someone is ignoring that ....
course there are new officers now after several MORE resignations at the convention...

the worst part .. as you see .. THERE WAS A MOTION FROM THE FLOOR about the re-wording regarding any transfer ...

the sad part is/was there was conversation about Sunday Hunting in general.. and all members and clubs were to responded to that question too ...

as you may recall I had informed them our club was TOTALLY against Sundays in any way.... so was the members at large vote.. but there was NO mention about that in any summary of the convention.. it appears to be "HUSH-HUSH" .. not any word on how that turned out AT ALL .... just that one motion ....

Well I would never had mentioned this before but now I am free from any feelings of obligations or loyalty...

Of all the Individual Memberships.... In the past 4-5 years only 12 of us let the delegate-at-large know our opinions and how we wish to vote on issues .... That's 12 members.. you know like a dozen people.....

He was nice enough to mention ALL our first names in his last article before resigning....

sad day ...
