Greg- bad luck on the birds. My son and I watched one coming into my buddies dekes, but it was out of his sight and he moved to adjust his seat and the bird saw that movement and boogied. We hunted in that blowin' rain till noon and when we walked down to the house, we see one one the hill, right where we were set up. Now, those birds know how to tell time.
That was one big shouldered fish. Nice work. I'm hoping to hit it hard this week after I complete some of the honey-do list. We fished Wills and Brush Creek this weekend, so I better get some things done or I'll be sleeping on the porch.

Gotta love those Yough trout, eh? Beautiful fish! And thank you for donating a few fish like that. See, u can make a difference.
Kid's day will be at 12. I'm sure by the time we get everythingworked out and all registered the fishing will start a little bit after that, but around noon will be a good time to show up. Oh, and that's the 6th of May, weather permitting at the boat ramp.

I tried to get in that hole friday and man I dont know what it was but everyone on the river was there. They had the channel along sure all covered and even guys trying to get out to the hole. Not a chance they were gonna make it but hey they were close. So I had to go over to another spot I hate the Sand Bar by the Van Meter Ball fields. Made it out on the bar barely river was still high and had a heck of a flow almost washed my fat body down stream but once on the bar knee deep and slammed the fish me and the 2 guys I was fishing with aka the fellow muslims we got 10 in about an hour. Cant wait to get into the Brewery hole though.

Fished Whitsett yesterday afternoon in the boat. Man, what a beautiful day! I got my fix and a mess of those fat trout in the boat. All were released back so others could enjoy catching them. There's just something magical to me about the Yough. Gives me that sense of peace that so many search for......

i was fishing the yough all the way down by mckeesport today (behind tygart steel) and i caught a 14" brown trout out of the rapids. guess you guys' fish travel a good distance down river because this was deffinatly a stockie and there isnt a **** thing around there that is stocked that i can think of.
thats a pretty big hike from all the way up river to mckeesport...

That could be a recent stockie from one of the sportsmans clubs or it could be a hold-over from a stocking last year. They seem to travel awfully far on the Allegheny too ... catch awfully big 'uns at Kinzu.

heading to the yough this weekend around layton looking for bass and thinking about maybe bringing some trout bait, do any trout make their way up layton? and whats are good lures or bait for trout?

TransAm- yes there are trout at Layton, they're all through the Yough.
Hus lures, spinners, Rapalas, 1/2 nitecrawler, meal worms, minnies, shrimp eggs
They all work.
Support the clubs that stock the river--buy a button.
