Chuck,

Like Smithton is stocking tomorrow morning at 10 followed by cookout of Hot Dogs and such immediately after the stocking at the ballfield. Show up, signup for a membership of $10 and that is all it takes! You get a Button and a membership card. At Whittset if next Sunday is a go for Kids Day, you can purchase one there, $10 as well.

What alot of people do not realize, the price for a trout goes up almost yearly so if you catch one big trout, or 2 smaller ones you got you money back. Plus you meet alot of good guys who become friends and new fishing buddies and some new memories and some bad ones but those guys you leave in the dust.

71,

I heard you were there.  I thank you.  You are right, too.  It is a bunch of young guys.  Pretty much all of us do it so our kids will have that section of river to fish in the years to come.  I've fished it and known these guys for years.  It was just this year that I got involved on a more intimate level.  It's been pretty satisfying.  It seems we've weeded out the bad eggs and the critics and pretty much everything we do is constructive and profitable now.  I know one thing, next year we are going to put a PILE of fish in the river.  We never expected to do what we've done so far this year.  We'll be stocking again next week for the kids too.  It's very gratifying.

As far as I know we are shooting for a 1pm start of kid's day.  I promise it won't be fancy, but there will be fish and something for the kids.  That's all that matters. Hope to see a lot of you guys there with your children.

Are there any local shops near confluence to purchase membership. I hit the Yough a couple times a year - seems only fair to support something.   Thanks, Dave

We are hoping to hold it Sunday the 29th.  Quite frankly, unless the river comes down, we are going to postpone it a week.
Yes, we hold it right at the ramp.  Whenever we make the final decision I will post it here.

This water level is gettin pretty old! The river is loaded with fish and its unfishable-for wading anyway. I was there on friday thinkin i could wade it but i went in two steps and it was up to the top of my waders. The way its lookin we wont fish it for a while. They need to shut those gates at tailrace.Does anybody know where to find information on that> some sort of website or something?

By the time the Yough gets down to a fishable level it will be way to warm.  We may get one great week though in between.  There is a ton of fish in it and they need to eat something.  cant wait to get in it if we ever get the chance.  hopefully we can.

BGB,

On the Connellsville site, when it is showing 3.5 or lower is when the river is wadable but with a little caution, when it is 2.5, this is a great number for the Smithton area. Hope this helps.

Raz,

Da Godfather is not a happy camper right now, the rain is affecting my life style. I am still planning on going out tomorrow as long as I see no lightning. I will be somewhere between the Smithton bridge and the Van Meter slate dump. I just need to get out and enjoy the day away from work and wifey....oops.

Ax,

I heard 'cause of Al Gore, there is snow coming in May and June yet, the river might never be normal this year due to Ozone Al and all that energy he is using is Tenn, remember the wind blows this direction from Al's place.

Hey Ax I saw the old man the other day w/ his new truck and heard about the trailer. That's the way to ease yourself into retierement.
Now Dunny and I have a place to sleep in our trucks without gettin' rousted.
I'll see you on the river tmrrow if it don't pour.

I should be down there somewhere around 10 or so.  Be in a blue Ranger.  I cant afford trucks like the old man.

MO,

It might be by tomorrow. They cut back on the water out of the dam and the river has dropped about 6", hopefully if she drops another 12", then it will be great!

That makes me hear Angels, lol.  I can't remember a year in the past 15 where at this point in April I haven't been in it because it was up for this long.  I remember fishing it in February one year and doing well.  We started last year in Whitsett the first week of March, long before we stocked, and crushed them all month.  This has been a frustrating spring with the Yough.  I think I'm to the point in withdrawl where I need rehab, I just can't do it alone.  Is there a 12 step program anyone knows of??

MO,

Glad you got the PM, hope it will help Perry out.
It looks like she is going to drop fast from what I can see, so you may be able to rehab tomorrow....

Also, I spoke with Terry (Crip) yesterday on my way home. His spirits are up and looking forward to getting out here to fish. Remind me MO to pick up a membership for him from Perry, Youghman got him one for Smithton. He said he will never walk again and they took some of his leg. We spoke for about 45 minutes, he talked about you, Youghman and Navyman, and fishing and hunting. Oh Youghman, you will have to let him know if you got a turkey, I told him you were going out, he said to tell you he wants the drumsticks!
The one thing that broke my heart was when he said he drove out here last year and got lost and ended up in Slippery Rock and never made it down here.
But he is hopeful that he and his brother will make it this year sometime! The Lord truly put one heck of a spirit in that man!
