Went out Mon. the 14th to the spot I hunted the 1'st day. Got in woods at 5 All quiete until 5;30 then gobblers started. One in tree about 80 yards in front of me but I was about 10yards short of where I could see over the hill. Thought that that wouldn't be to bad cause there were no hens answering and should be able to call him up. Needless to say hens then started yelping 5 or 6 but one to my right was dominate hen when she called everybody Gobbled. Saw the gobbler come out of the tree Decided to try and call hen in. She came out of tree and landed about 40 yards away to my right and began working her way towards me. She had to drop over the hill to get around some brush purred a little and when she came back up she had picked up a friend . At 20 yards he strutted his stuff at 15 yards the party was over. He weighed 22lbs inch and a quarter spurs and 20 inches of beard One 11 inches and a second 9 . Entered him in Gander Mt. Big Turkey contest. All done by 6:15 spent the rest of morning just watching woods to see if any thing interesting would appear.

WMU 2B called up a gobbler, he came in on the suicide charge. Covered a 200 yard distance in minutes, he stopped at 20 yards and that was it. All over except for the shouting. He weighted 18 pounds, 9 1/2 inch beard and had 1 inch spurs, not a bad bird at all. Congrats to all successful hunters.

Congrats Cast Master. Got one with a ten inch beard and weighed 19 pds. I heard very little gobbling the last two weeks. Where I hunt I think the first two weeks they were looking for the last round of hens to breed or they became too educated from the hunting pressure.

Thanks Steely, congrats to you also! We did have a strange season this year. Somehow I think that cold snap at the end of April screwed things up a little, we noticed after that the birds we were scouting changed patterns on us, who knows. Falls under the first rule of turkey hunting-
THERE ARE NO RULES ! Oh well time for some fishing and scouting for deer & turkey-man am I sick I'm already thinking about fall turkey season!! LOL.

Seen a couple in the field on the way to work this morning. Looks like they fared well this winter so far.
