Going fishing? Pack your ****

Very interesting story in USA. I guess i can see both sides of the coin. But does this apply to unchartered boats?

Didn't a couple of the hijackers from 9/11 come in through Canada?  I can see tightening the border but why have to go through all that if you leave the U.S., never touch Canadian soil, never leave the boat, and return to the U.S.?  That seems kind of silly unless they think people will be using boats to smuggle illegals in from another boat that's going to meet them on the water.

The real shame of that thinking is that there are already enough laws on the books to keep most of us safe, but they don't get enforced.  New laws aren't always the answer.

This is stupid, but just wait...  Next thing will be mandatory ****s for ALL passengers on ALL boats coming back from the lake, no matter how far out they went.  After that, the little chips in the neck.  1984 in the 21st century.

Complete garbage really...It doesnt really effect us in PA much since the Canadian line is kinda out there....i dont think with the price of gas any1 is going to take that run out of Walnut or Erie to Canadaian waters....But if so i guess you'd better have your ****...

It does however probaly aggrivate the guys in the eastern and westen ends of the lake who often fish canadian waters....

Hey, do we want our borders tightened up or not?  Its not about Canadians or Mexicans attacking us, its about terrorists who do their homework and know what the easiest ways to get into our country are.  Many of us complain that we need to secure ourselves first before we go to other countries and do things there.  Well, here's a perfect example of the govt trying to do that.  But we are so far removed from 9/11, that we have become desensitized to the horror of what happened.
So we complain at the inconveniences of airport security checks, **** requirements, etc.  But if something did happen and terror struck again, we would be up in arms about the lack of security.  We can't have security without some sacrifice.  It's either American lives or minor inconveniences, you choose.

Best fishing in Canada ..... Thats laughable ...... If you need to travel that far out to catch fish you're doing something wrong. Ohio & Michigan will be a really bad deal but for most us in the eastern basin there's more than enough oppurtunity in PA/NY waters for perch , walleye , lake trout , small mouth , steelhead ..... That worries me about lake Ontario & fishing the Niagra Bar . I guess if the canucks stay on they're side & we stay on ours the KING fishing won't be compromised .LOL

I agree 110%. I have never had to go to far to catch good fish. they should build " The Great Floating Wall " to keep out terrorists. I never seen one swimming. I think there afraid of water.

I'll take a minor inconvenience anytime. Just remember those who have lost their lives for our freedom. I will never forget. " Freedom isn't Free".

Wait one second, so by your reasoning we give up our freedoms to have "security" . I think you better rethink that statment, enforce existing laws , dont create a nazi style "security acts" that let  a government trample your rights!!, but as long as you feel safe, until they need another disaster to justify a war !!!WAKE UP !!!!

They take months to arrive, though.  Order it now, and you'll be lucky to get it in time if you want to do any traveling this Summer.  Certainly not a waste, but unecessary for fishermen.  JMHO.

How much is a ****? Where do you get one? How long does it take?

How much is a ****? 100 or $160 if you want it within 6 weeks
Where do you get one? Most Post Offices.
How long does it take? 2-3 months or around 6 weeks if you pay extra.
The delay to get it was much longer but they are catching up with backlog.

Beginning January 31, 2008, U.S. and Canadian citizens 19 years and older who enter the U.S. at land and sea ports of entry from within the Western Hemisphere will need to present government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license as proof of identity, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, or a ****. Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States.Note: Children age 18 and under will need to present a birth certificate, naturalization certificate or a **** to enter the U.S.

What, are they going to have boats out on the water waiting for you to cross the border?  Thats a joke.  Is Canada or US going to spend the gas money for the boats to patrol.  That is a waste of money- my money as a tax payer and now you say I have to spend more money to get a ****, gas money to get my picture taken.  That is valueable fishing time wasted and money I need for gas to get to Erie just so I can fish.  Just wait until gas is $4.00/gallon this summer.

I wish I could get gas at a marina for only $4/gal
I would be surprised if the premium fuel I need is under $4.50/gal

I suggest you go read yours! I never intended to go this route but after reading fisherofmens post where he sounds like a parrot spewing out the same garbage the politicans  (who never even read the  homeland security act before voting on it) do!! dont tell me about history I fought for this country over in vietnam so guys like you can sit behind a computer desk and pretend to know the score!! you were dead wrong on this one.
