No one really wants to hear it anymore. Not about the orangeman and the alt right. Not about Sleepy Joe and the radical left. It's this one's fault for this, it's that one's fault for that... blah blah blah. Get a grip. There's a handful of posters, and I mean around 5, that want to go round and round. Hit em up on a PM or FB or whatever. Have you not learned that this is a private site and yes "the King" can make any rules he/she wants when it come to discussion on here. Don't like... move on. Jus say'IN...

As for me. I'll keep talking fishing and gardening. Thas it that's the list..... o ya and the occasional Hockey Talk..

I got my only warning for making a post about the really big news story going on in the world, and specifically the confirmed war crimes that have come out.

I don't see in the site rules that we can't talk about that.
But if this my last post - it's been real. Take care of yourselves. Change your line every so often between seasons!

Yes, DG, I was wondering if you got a warning for that, which I did for mine (mine def. closer to the line but did not go against the rules I saw posted), and you should have no WAY received a warning for what you posted.  Another crappy site, getting crappier!

Looking like the rules have been changed again to 3 warnings. That's good.

It's not a crappy site. It's a privately owned forum, and I'm sure there have been headaches given to the owners from this place, which probably resulted in the first deletion of the forum.
I agree with you - I don't think I should have been given a warning for a statement of fact, that wasn't offensive in any way I could think of?

It'd be nice to just have a list, however loose it may be. It's clear there are things most of us do not find offensive that someone does.
I may be taking a risk here but, are politics off the table? What about Russia's Invasion of Ukraine? Inflation? Gas Prices? Elections in general?

I’m sure it’s ok to talk about the giant Airbnb house party, that ended in a bunch of kids getting shot, which happened in my neighborhood, on the night before Zombie Jesus Day.

I don’t remember hearing anything. Me and my girlfriend might have been asleep by the time it happened.

I drove past the house today and you can see a busted out window on the second floor which kids had apparently been jumping out of to get away. Crazy.

Plan to have a kickazz party with booze, sex, drugs and rock 'n roll and turds start shooting at each other.

this house is in white bread Hampton?
Do you know the address?
What's the tourist attraction(s) in North Pitt that a "short term rental" is viable/profitable to rent for a day, week, month?

I thought you might be the right guy for this, seeing that you have already Been There and Done That in the past. I can see now that you are a much better and thoughtful person than before . Sorry I mentioned it.

It's crazy to me that these kids, just as soon start shooting, rather than settling a dispute the "old fashioned way". Have a good dust up, beat some one's azz ( or get beat up) and be done with it. My heartbreaks for the parents who lost a child over this.

my mistake, I thought I saw Hampton mentioned in one of the articles.
(and I thought Hampton was suburb of north Pitt)

since it happened in your neighborhood, what I was "getting at" was trying to get some insight from a local.

hasn't been that way in awhile too, Pen

Im not sure what you mean here either…

But all I know is that it was a huge house party full of underage kids at an Airbnb rental. Apparently this property is used for Airbnb parties fairly often. I also know it is not owner occupied, and the guy that owns it basically uses it like a rental property or a hotel.

I don’t believe the cops have released any info about why somebody started shooting, and I don’t think a suspect has been arrested.

As far as the appeal… the neighborhood is centrally located. The ballpark, the stadium, the cultural district, and the convention center are just a few minutes away. It would also be convenient if somebody was in town for work and had to go downtown every day.

It’s also appealing for giant house parties because the neighborhood is still kind of a dump and you can get away with a lot of shiit here that you can’t get away with in a place like white bread Hampton.

I’ve also heard that the cops had been called to the house before the shooting and for whatever reason, they didn’t shut it down.

Re: So what is OFF TOPIC allowed? 2022/04/19 08:20:50 (permalink)
It was the second floor of the building and I assume there weren’t the 200 people noted when the police stopped the first time and told them to keep it down.  I haven’t been to a house party like that since my 20s, but remember many of them going from 15-20 people to 150-200 in 1/2 hour.  I assume when they showed up, there were only so many kids and all got quiet when someone answered the door (remember being in many of those situations too).  Being upstairs the officer couldn’t see how many and most likely who answered the door was not under age.  Not about to blame this on the police.

The picking up of a gun to settle disputes has definitely been going on for a long time.  And it is definitely a cultural issue.  Why many gun laws are proposed to attempt to curb it.  Much more needs to be done as well, like stop glorifying killers in movies and music...  If it were one of the cultures that lives in Hampton, Elwood City, Greenville, Delmont or Harborcreek that this glorifying of gun violence was running prevalent in, no doubt these gun laws would pass with much less resistance.  Just like the rush to stop the opioid epidemic as a health issue vs. the war on drugs for the crack epidemic as a junkie issue.  But like anything in this country, it is politicized and ALL of one side is either "good" or "bad", depending on what side you are on.  Instead of truly analyzing situations and having some give and take from both sides to solve.  All solving does is loses political talking points, we can't have that!

Wasn't that primarily an older house? Just thinkin' about all those kids piled in there. Old houses used balloon framing in the walls, and no way would the house have the "live floor load" of modern framing. Someday we'll probably read where the floor caved in resulting in death of kids on both upper and lower floors and it will be the fault of the owner for permitting it. The bad ones may not have time to draw their guns as they're falling through the floor.

Never try to argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Unless the shooters were over 21, which is unknown at this time, they already broke a gun law because handguns were involved. Apparently that wasn’t a deterrent.

They discharged a gun within the city limits, breaking another gun law. Apparently that wasn’t a deterrent.

They shot at other people, which unless it was in self defense, broke another gun law. Apparently that wasn’t a deterrent.

So what new law would have been a deterrent?
