6" with an icy crust on top in lower Dutchess County. The kind of stuff that snaps tree limbs and brings powerlines down. I'm hearing another blast coming our way for Friday. Hurry Spring like weather.

Just got done clearing the drive 6 inches of that heavy heart attack snow. The kind that leaves the shape of the blade in the bank. They are saying could be some heavy lake effect in the future.......

The forecast sounds as if there will be at least 12-15 by Thurs when it is supposed to wind down. Here in Ohio it snowed off and on all day but no accumulation.Took the dogs for a walk and the wind is brutal,no fishing for me until that dies down.

I know i thought 12" by thursday but theres already 6" + and now we're about to get whooped hardcore

I have a question of the resident trib folks and maybe it's a dumb one but here goes. What is the status of the SR estuary ? Open or frozen ? I'm only assuming frozen but we know what the first 3 letters in that means. Reason I ask is its been frozen most winters in my short term . Seems though once she busts open the fishing seems to pick up. Now maybe I'm half baked or half frozen for lack of heat in this machine and given the higher flows it has kept the estuary fairly open but agin , just a dumb question about the weather up there...

This was the first year that I saw a good run in I creek before the ice went off the bay. I went over the 104 bridge both ways on Sunday, and the south end was ice free, but there was still a shore to shore sheet from Newport Yacht to German Village. It would be interesting if what we saw two weeks ago was just a precursor and the main run is yet to come but experience and the calendar, and the suckers, say that's not the case. But HT's observation about the estuary makes sense, an ice shelf would have to at least slow the fish down. Happy first day of spring. Don't put away your shovels yet (mine stay out until at least 5/15). L13

Now what would the construction world do with out you tuna Ive been spending my work days digging up an old 8" cast iron sewer in a basement 6' down incased with brick and mortar... the material is not shovelable without a jack hammer and chipping guns.... tuna, maybe you can role that D9 on down and trench it out for us

well with the 22' wide by 8' high material blade on that 9, not only would I trench it out but leveling that sucker would be a piece of cake.. Now I'm hoping someone can answer my ice out question.. Speaking of ice & weather ,my fishin buddy is on LG now. About 1' of fresh snow and 10" of black ice..Is it Friday yet ??? Last Call... Unrelated somewhat, topic. Figured this puter out today , ugh.. seems it's just plain tired.. That buzzing noise, well poor maintenance.. The fans were full of dust and gosh knows what else but that is all gone and so is the buzz.. The real issue is the processor and THOUSANDS upon thousands of file transfers that been coming through over it;s life.. I'm still using the orig, windblows xp.. The 98 was a good soldier in it's day too. So my remedy is to start up the new system I have and try to baby the old one for only putting stuff on the i-pod.. 12,823 tunes and only 27,168 more to upload before the next one :) Time to run the tractor now, at least it has heat and plug-in for the Tunes :)

Even though the building's 7 stories high, your D9 would probably rip right through the brick structure for sure... lol...
Hold your horses now, i'll check the ice for you later... something tells me its gone and been long gone... we'll see though...

Now I have not went trough there since last Sunday but IIRC The Estuary was pretty ice free then. There was some shelf ice but thats it. Don't hold me to it as I was not really looking, and we all know how my memory is. We got no snow at all last night, but I heard they were hit hard right up the road .

Yup we got about 4-6 last night clint... was still snowing hard this morning but it magically stopped at the parish exit :)
Tuna, no ice on the upstream side of rt. 3 nbidge... south side channel on downstream side was free and cleer... north side channel was bound up with a thin layer if chunks about 200 yards downstream... probably from that cold snap we just recently had.looking to the west and seeing a dome of gray clouds closing in... we'll see what happens. I was checking the doppler throughout the day and it looked like tug hill was getting some heavy doses from time to time... jefferson county really got pounded by the looks of the radar

Yep another 4 to 6 last night and this AM this time it was pretty bad till the brewerton bridge. There will be no shortage of water this spring. I think all the ice around here (even up North) is OK bit iffy. Do not want to take a 1.5 hour drive to find out the shore had busted up the night before so unless I get a valid report I may hit the river Tuesday or Wednesday at least for a few hours.

Well looking at the 10 day for Pulaski it seems like the most stable pattern in a very long time. Spring must have surly sprung as my old computer is singing some real sweet tunes to my iPod Could be a sign of what's in store.
Charlie I think you may have hit the perfect time to make a multi day adventure trip on the steelhead chase . I hope your rod stays bent and a smile on your face the entire time.
Jack, you'll get em' no doubt !! The fish won't stand a chance once you get dialed in on them.
Enjoy all your adventures wherever they may lead
