Pafisher unfortunately the Appalachian Mountains ain't high enough over a long enough range, to hold a heavy snowpack like the Rockies. But then again several snow storms a year, like is now hitting Montana & North/South Dakota, might keep snow in the Appalachian Mountains and in turn, help the streams and criks flow free. But.... let's just keep that kind of snow in the Appalachians and away from my little piece of Penn's Woods, at least until Thanksgiving. After that, let it snow... let it snow...... OK?π¬ Good times and tight lines. π»

So I couldn't resist and just had to see what the Farmers Almanac is sayin'. And guess what...... I ain't gonna tell yinz.π No really, this winter ain't lookin too bad for the original 13 colonies. Here in the Keystone we can expect warmer than normal temps with average precipitation. Welp being a "skeptical" fan of the Almanac, I thought I do a little test and see just how close the "Farmer" was at predicting the ongoing weather in the high plains. Well, if the Almanac forecast for the North East is as close as been for the Dakota's, Montana, and Wyoming I'd say the colonies is in for a mild winter. However, folks in the "Buckeye" may want to purchase snow shovels, while they are available. π¬ Maybe the folks in Western PA & WV too. β Buy your copy todayβΊ Attachments are not available: Download requirements not metπ'cept the buy button don't work.

Woke this morning to a pretty heavy frost. Garage roof was well coated with the frosty stuff but only splotches could be seen on the ground. Kind of disappointing for me, I've had my fill of cutting grass for this year. Checked on the weather and to my surprise no Alberta Clipper out of Canada hurling across the nation and the system responsible for the forecast Nor'easter still bumbling around down south. Checking again this afternoon and pretty much more of the same. For a closer look in any part of the nation, click on any of the images below. Hopefully the map auto-updates but if not click the most recent link that should take you to the most recent, though non-looping, radar map. EDIT: Radar map taken down for sake of space.

π³ SIR.....? Watch your language, there's truck driver's on here. βΊ Speaking of "bumbling around" I'm still learning the cans & can'ts of the map. At the bottom you'll see separate images of the nation. Top row far right is the NE states. Click or tap the image and once loaded you can enlarge the area if using a touch screen.

It has been raining since around 2pm. Some moderate and some quite heavy showers. Spent the night at a soccer game. Nephew had 4 goals. I got soaked. As I have watched him throughout this year in highschool I did not realize how good he actually was. Before this year I only went to his club games where EVERYONE was a top notch player. He did very well but did not stand out. In his high school games he is double and triple teamed and still runs right through them. He actually had a stop and cross over tonight that 2 guys ended up on the ground he fooled them so bad.........

Few light showers remaining in my back yard with a pretty healthy gusty wind hopefully blowing, this system out of the area in the next 12 hours. Weather dude saying sunny and mid 60s for my area in NW Penna til mid of next week. Regarding this "Alberta Clipper" I should like to mention...dam I'm glad it didn't bring snow. Be well everyone, winters coming.

We didn't get blasted with the deluge these so called " forecasters " predicted. No major flooding and I can say, usually in October I DO have standing water in my yard because there is no long hot sun and light winds to dry things out. I call it second mud season where muck boots are standard. At least in my yard living here over 50 years.
I am totally not ready for snow. To many things scattered about to consider plowing yet. Let's just tighten up the ground first, then let me get my hunting season started. I now have to deploy my 26 foot camper ( long story)to the top of our mountain at hunting camp, then get it back out of there by November 14th. Any snow would mean disaster.

Ah the weather. My weather started Friday with an annual Halloween bash with our favorite local dead cover band. It was a packed house and everyone shook their bones until past 1am. It made for a late start for me at hunting camp Saturday. When I arrived at 1pm ( 12 hrs later) the weather was beautiful and no wind. Son and grandson were already hunting. I sat in my blind until 5pm and none of us seen an animal. Had a good dinner and nice fire but we all hit the sack by 8:30. By midnight I could hear the pitter patter on the roof. By daylight its been a steady downpour. Nobody wanted to venture out so we made coffee and breakfast. Son and grandson bailed for home at 9am. I'm just enjoying the peace of the outdoors and will probably give an hr in my ground blind before I leave. Sure hope the weather plays nice next weekend and beyond. Cold is ok , rain and snow not so much. So thankful to have a nice dry home setup with heat and power. No packing up a wet tent today.
