Thanks! Yep 20 or less. Does the concrete go far enough in the water to tie off the side of the boat? I will be alone. I will need to tie up the boat while i park the truck.

You may check out Crooked Creek off of route 28 also... I believe that is an unlimited HP lake? But don't know if it's open yet because I think it is a Corp of Engineer's dam.

A few other folks on here I think frequent Crooked Creek and may be able to provide better info. Just something I thought may help.

As of yesterday the ramp at crooked creek was open. However there is no dock or wall to tie off to.

it depends if your not worried about the bottom grounding i feel your best bet is mc daniels docks are longer you could p/m the dnr they can help you as always back in only as far as necessary i found out the hard way that the ramps drop off quick at the end

Was out today. Water temp out in the open was 39 and 44 in the shallow coves. Not a bite but a few guys were catching some Blue gills from the shore in the coves. I couldnt even find any fish on the Hummingbird.

I am relatively new to fishing Arthur. Could you share the location of this motor killer? Any hazard markers out there?

Thanks,
Jerry

sorry jerrys, no markers there...and i dont have a gps point of where that poor guy started screaming his head off... then rowing... best bet is to avoid the muddy creek branch of the lake all together. theres no fish over there anyway.

the motor killer is about 3\4 of the way up the muddy creek finger. there are some rock piles that stick out of the water that you can physically see. once you get up that far its only about 3 feet deep. Best bet is to stay where you can see upper 528 boat launch. unless your looking for an adventure.

My Dad, Father in law and I were fishing from shore in the Muddy Creek branch yesterday. Saw a guy hit his prop too, although pretty calm about it. He was trying to drive through the creek channel that hugs the shoreline, but hit the outside to avoid those fishing inside (instead of going the other way around the island - like everyone else that didn't hit their props). The water was too muddy with the wind/chop, to really be able to navigate how deep stuff is there. There are so many weed beds, islands, logs, ect to look out for.

I attempted to take my 17'er back there once, and had a horrible experience. I wouldn't advise taking much more than a small jon boat in that area, without expecting to bang the motor, especially in anything over 10mph wind. Perfect area for a canoe or kayak.

The fish weren't cooperating for a 63 degree day in March, as much as I would have expected. For about 7 hours out, we got 6 largemouth, 2 smaller pike, a crappie and a perch between 3 of us (although only one of us caught fish. ). Conditions were really rough, if you didn't find shelter from the wind. Too many others out, that found those spots first.

I was one of the guys tossing the lock ness monster lures... I had a few that I made that I was testing out (one was an ocean surf plug - just checking the action). Actually caught a largemouth on a different larger one, about the 3-4th cast. Pike are known to be caught on larger lures too. Although, pretty sure they are mostly spawning now. No signs of them when the lake went flat in the evening.

porktown.....i was there fishing near the launch from 9am till 1ish pm and didnt see your group. im guessing you were much further left of me or showed up after i left to fish with BIGHEAD....
The guy that i saw hurt is motor was in a blue jon boat near the opposite shore around 10am.... he was really swearing up a storm.
its amazing that you managed to catch all those fish.....especially because i (and everyone i talked to) couldnt manage a nibble. you must of found a honey hole. kudos to you

There was all kinds of boats up in there. So there could of been several people that hit they're props. We made it through inn my buddies Lund just had to raise the motor caught several crappie and bass. All round pretty productive day.

docks are still out of the water.  I don't think it matters how nice the weather is.  I think they put them in on specific dates.

Chris,

I think your in box is full or something.  I'm gonna try and get out on the boat either tomorrow or Thursday.  I'll give you a call after work if I can go.  Probably hit the crappies again.  The pike seem to be preoccupied...

I am a new boat owner and was looking to head out to Lake Arthur tomorrow. I went this past Sunday and I couldn't get anything to bite. It was my first time at Lake Arthur in years so I could just be looking at the wrong places. Water temp was between 40-44 degrees throughout the day. Figured it might have been a little too cold.

I was wondering if anyone knew the current water temp? And even better, has anyone had any luck getting the LM to bite? Any tips would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Mike,

The bite picked up as u left. Helped the older guys load the canoe & decided to call it quits early for a change.
