mcdaniels launch drops off pretty quick on the two to the left.  The one furthest to the right is a little more gradual.

Today we filled in the drop-offs at 528 launch and removed the deteriorated grate at Porter's Cove. We also repaired the Bear Run, Old 422, and McDanels launch the week prior. We plan on removing the deteriorated grate at the Church launch and replacing this week. In the last round of budget cuts we needed to identify areas to reduce maintenance or outright close. Since we have a newer restroom at 528 launch, the upper 528 area was chosen as an area to reduce maintenance. We try to post carry in carry out, but it has limited success. Until the budget situation improves, we will be forced to spend limited park budget dollars on the heavier used park areas. Thanks to all who posted improvements needed on this thread, it is greatly appreciated!

A many & much kudos to the park manager for getting on here & listening!!!!! Should be a reason to write the people who should know and let them know what is needed in that area. Kudos to PM1 and what they say they've done. Keep the ball rolling and go from there.

+1.  That's awesome to know that you guys are listening to what we are saying and doing what you can to fix things.  And quickly, to boot!  Thanks Dan, and all the park staff.

Keep up the great work Dan!

Maybe we can get some guys together for a spring clean up to give something back for everything the park and the staff provide for us. This photo is from a couple years back from a clean up with startinout, my son, and I in just a few hours from the upper 528 area.

PM1 how about somewhere we can make a direct donation to the park and not let the state get their grubby hands on it???

Thanks for all the work!

crappy, congrats.for teaching your kids that there is more to being a sportsman than who kills what or how many.As I have posted earlier, with the budget cuts everywhere sportsmen & sportswomen are going to have to step-up by helping to keep our woods & waters clean. It is a shame that there was so much trash in one area.btw There is a new program that we participated in this past year that asks people to help clean & repair things in public parks & to build things like birdhouses & fish habitat,I believe it is the last week-end in Sept. sam

Thanks Sam,

Glad you participated in the program. I think it's easier getting the youth involved more-so than the adults sometimes Well maybe instead of getting a group together just get with a friend, spouse, sibling or just on your own sometime. It's amazing (sad) how much trash is out there if you look for it. My son & I will clean the M/C arm up before the end of May. The part I hate most after a clean-up is I end up breaking down and cry

The water level is slowly on the rise but still very low as ov last night. The rain in the forecast should help. The current was purdy good yesterday.

Good Luck

Oh yeah the water temp dropped 2*

crappie, Do you remember the old public service spots where they showed an Indian with a tear in his eye while looking at litter? Some of us feel that way also. One reason that I almost always pick up in the area that I am fishing, is that I am afraid that someone coming past would think that I left it there. sam

Last time I saw it on tv ESPN had it on for the opening ov the last Bassmasters Classic held in Pgh.

I Bithced a week before the Classic Pgh. should be ashamed ov the crap load ov trash from Aspinwall --- the D.Flemming Bridge on 28 & mentioned the Indian crying com.

crappy

Heck if it were me I would keep the lake drawn down until the 42 yrs. worth ov glass & other crap that is going to get covered with water is cleaned up. The Pike would have a terrible spawn this yr. (looks like that might happen anyway) but they are tough & would rebound on their own. It was stocked only 4 yrs. back in the 70's with the last yr. only being 1,200. The Fish com. said they weren't worth the $$$ because they didn't see the returns. At least they screwed that up & now the fish are all wild & take care ov them self. The boaters & shore fishers could tough it out until the clean up is complete in my book.

They should make littering a $ 2500.00 dollar fine/ 40 hours restitution!!!!!!!!!!!! NO EXECPTION What kills me You never seam to see people doing it,But sure as h3ll happens. On a lighter note We managed to straighten my boat trailer out to a point that I shouldn't be ripping the tires of dragging it to the lake. And I can see the boat in both mirrors LOL Dave

The one that really burns me is the lazy slobs who leave line laying around, how hard is it to wrap it up and stick in a pocket or something until it can be disposed of properly, rescued a robin a while back that was all tangled, wonder how much waterfowl and raptors get caught up in that stuff?

I was hoping you weren't dumb enough to take my advice Muddy Creek was a mud slick this evening. Prob. won't get back out 'till Fri. with Timmy, either be in canoes or on the Fisher. For the next week I'll prob. fish from the Sports Pal, this wading in muck is getting to me.

Good Luck in the morning.

Great Photo! Thanks for your work cleaning up the park, if everyone picked a couple of bags per year it would sure make a big difference. We are having a shoreline cleanup on Saturday May 12 starting at the Park Office at 9:00 a.m. We will be cooking lunch for the volunteers at 1:00 p.m. If you know anyone who would like to help, we will have a signup at the Park Office. This is the first year we are specifically targeting shoreline areas using boats. I appreciate the comments, we'll keep working hard to keep the park in good shape.

Thanks Dan B.

3MJC (The Moraine, McConnells Mill, Jennings Commission) the parks volunteer friends group, raises money for the parks with 100% returned to the parks. The past few years they have helped us with the habitat structure and rubble funds donated by Butler Basscasters and Three Rivers Musky. This really helps us stretch the limited state funds and improves the fishery. Donations are accepted on behalf of 3MJC at the Park Office. They have also helped us secure some grants we were not able to apply for. Thanks! Dan B.

questions for whoever.....has anyone put structure or rubble in the deepest spots on the lake? i have all the structure maps and it seems that the state perfers to place everything fairly close to shore....is it a matter of difficulty? or do they feel theres no benifit to deep water structure there? thanks...

Hey guys!

I was going to break in a motor this weekend on the three rivers. As of right now it doesnt look good and its raining at the moment. I dont think i will be able to get on safely. My secound option would be lake arthur. I have a large 20' boat. Does anyone know of any docks that are place that could handle my boat. Im dont do much fishing up there so im not real sure where all the docks are. I live in the burgh. Arthur is pretty close. I hate to have to drive to all the way to p.i.b.

Thanks!
