Last Clarion Trip ??

Decided to dunk some crawlers this morning. Fished form 6:00am until 9;00am. Not very good this morning, water was too warm, it felt like bath water and after a few minutes the crawlers start to look like hell.
Managed one bullhead catfish, 5 Rock Bass, and maybe the nicest Smallmouth of the year.
Think it's time to start scouting for good deer spots for the October Senior Citizen antlerless season.

If it remains this warm much longer I'll bet those antlerless senior citizen deer will be found more so in the Canadian Tundra than Clarion County!

    I will add one point...

I mentioned the water was warm ... if I had soap it would have been like my bath tub !!!!!

After two or three cast I had to be VERY CAREFULL or the crawler would just fall off the hook...

I never fished in conditions like this morning... as for water level.. just about the same as it has been all summer... low.. low... low....

If you look at the smallie picture you can see the tip of a smaller rock just to the right of my wristwatch... This was the first time I saw that tip out of water.. in fact.. the entire rock was out of the water and I could actually stand on it and cast without getting my feet wet.. first time ever for that....

    WF...

The forecast for this week sure is NOT going to help conditions over there..

I can't speak for ther rest of the state but this area sure needs rain...

It will be interesting to see how the mast crops react to another hot week of dry weather...

I'm still hoping for another erie trip for perch though !!!!

Scouting allows me to find the exact spot to hunt .. so I do not have to spend too much time in the woods and as I posted it allows me to tell others where they may be successful....

The ones I feed to "fatten up " and that visit here daily so I can take pics to share are usually the ones I do harvest .. at least one the adults ones ..while hunting here...Clear Creek requires some scouting.

It's sort of like the farmer raising beef then slaughtering it for food for the winter....
only I do not have to do all the cleaning, feeding, vet visits, etc

I feed deer from Christmas until fawns are born in the spring..

I hunt far from the actual place in my backyard I feed them at, although legally I could hunt them from the bedroom window ... they also feed in the farmer's field and it's even closer to my stand than my backyard.. is that hunting near bait in your opinion ?????

    No.

However, in your original post you said you feed them, fatten them up and shoot them later, followed by a bunch of grinning emoticons.  What else would one conclude from only that information?

would you like to discuss this past May's emergence of sulphurs in the southwest part of the state? I find it quite interesting.

That's not what this thread was about....

Some may enjoy a discussion about sulphurs.... maybe you should start one...

I would not bother even clicking on the subject --

#1... you started the topic and I do not read those very often...
#2.. I have no interest in the subject matter--
#3... nor would I just jump in and post any comment just to see my name in the thread....
and to feel I was involved in the conversation...

one more thing Doc, if you haven't shot does for 10 years, there might be enough deer running around your favorite hunting area that you don't have to scout..1 down means 3 less every year..in case you didn't know that.

This year has been really bad for smallmouth fishing on ALL waters I have fished .... Allegheny , Clarion , Tionesta CK , Elk CK , and Lake Erie ....

I think it may have alot to do with lack of rain fish staying in deeper waters of Lakes they run up the streams from and deeper holes in rivers ? Most fish I key on are in 6 or less feet of water so perhaps MY lack of adapting to the "new conditions" ...
