Fished at the James. marinia again this am. had a good time with a couple other ice-heads..we fished at the mouth of the bay at the boat ramp.. 20 FOW fish were coming through at anywhere from bottom to 5 ft. down.. Between three of us we kept 18 crappies and a couple nice perch -- numerous throw-backs-- ( dinks and borderliners ) EVEN MANAGED TO CATCH A CRAPPIE ( KEEPER ) ON A HEDDON SONAR had the stars-n- stripes flying like usual..

I heard from a friend who owns a house on Pyma that the ice fishing has been good!

Last time I was out was on thursday and there was approximatly 11" of ice and a foot of snow at manning.  As nw/ said it was quite a drag out.  Planning on heading out there this afternoon, so I will post new conditions later.

Hit the ice for the first time this year. Pulled in and set out around 9 am. Walked about 50 yards and promptly stepped in a snow covered hole... Great START! My WHOLE left leg SOAKED! And I mean SOAKED! Up to my mid thigh. Told the other 2 to carry on and I'd catch up. So it was back to the Jeep where I peeled off the 3 pairs of sweats, my thermals and Under Armor. Now what???????? Thank God I had an old pair of breathables in the "cubby hole". So after I "dryed" my socks and first layer, I put those waders on. Besides the boots being rather tight, the left one was completely soaked. I was surprised I made it as long as I did specially when it wasnt exactly a banner day.

We ended up fishing till around 3. No slabs and only a few smallish perch.

Saturday there was about 10 inches of snow with an inch or 2 of water under the snow for about the first 50 yards.  Water just poured out of every hole I drilled. Ended up standing in about an inch and a half of water. 

Gunna try james.marina again tomorrow am. since we have been dooing pretty well there..short drag ' deep water ' large numbers of fish on finder' plenty of minnows this time early bite the best bite.. NW/

Wow nice batch of fish, can you let us in on how deep you were? 

Hit the jamestown marina last night after reading some of these posts. Was my first time fishing the southend of the lake, and it turned out decent. From the time i got there at 5 till about 6pm had a dozen bites, but only managed to get 3 crappies through the hole, all of which were nice size fish. After 6 it was like somebody flipped a switch and the fish shut off. Will be at it in the morning again, and hoping for a longer bite. Have to say that it is a MUCH better pull through the snow only having to go about 50yds. there, as opposed to fishing manning or tuttle and trying to get out to the deeper water.

Gonna head down there this Saturday myself....can't wait.
Might just have to make the run tonight as sunny as it is now

I just bought this new hut and will be trying it out tomorrow. If you see this brand new Igloo hut out there come over and say hi. 

I will be fishing pymy this weekend.  Mom and dad rented a cabin for the weekend for pa's b-day.  I wear a blaze orange with treelimb parka and have 2 man black ht enterprise shanty.  Feel free to say hey.  Will be out saturday afternoon til dark for sure. 

Not a steelheader, but I now know why there is so much talk about "spot burning" on this site and others!  Fished Jamestown Marina on a hunch 3 weeks ago tomorrow...our 2 shanties and 2 others were all that were there.  Last weekend it was triple that and today it was "tent town usa" with the stars and stripes a flyin!  I love some of the help and insight that these websites provide, but all I can say is WOW!!!  If you brag about it, they will come!!!  Glad I got up REAL early and got there first!
 
Brought home 7 keepers today...bite was 20% of what it has been the last 2 weeks.  A little too nice out maybe???

yeah visible shanty count at 10:00 was 48 good thing there are over 17,000 acres on this lake .. yes that's right 17'000 ain't no way of fishin it out..
