Small bladebait(blue/silver) for the eyes, minnows for the crappies. Fishing in 21 to 23 ft of water. PS thanks to the guy for gaffing the one eye. Got to buy me one of those.

    way to go slab!

    Thanks for the report.

I've been meaning to pick up a gaff too....don't realize how nice one would be until you're looking at a hole full of teeth & hooks!

I'd say 8+ most everywhere I punched a hole. I think the south end is really going to heat up now,Vex was lit up the whole time I fished down there plus I like having that option of having deeper water available. Buddy fished till a little past dark up towards tuttle last evening, couple dink perch that was it. He's coming down south with me Sat.

Fished out of manning again this evening from 4:30 - 7:30.  Action was decent to start out, got three keeper crappie in the first hour, but it died right off.  Might have to give the south end a try from what you guys are saying.

thank you jigmaster.  And good luck.  I plan on hitting pymy as long as the ice holds up which I believe it will.   Again good luck maybe we"ll bump into eachother on the hardwater.

I got to get down there and fish with you guys, never fished Pym, always fishing the bay here in Erie. I would like to get one or two eyes. Crappies and gills would be nice too, But one nice eye around the 17 to 20" range. I need to plan a trip down there next week during the week.

I think the ice will hold up redneck steel. With cold temps rollin in again this week. as long as you guys don't get too much snow down there so the ice won't get insulated.

I bet the ice will be fine.  The north end of the lake had 10-12 inches of ice the last time I was there.

Action was pretty decent on Saturday, nice class of crappies and perch. Caught most fish suspended. Kept 20 or so. 1 nice eye on a tip up(approx 18") Fishing 21 to 25 ft of water.

    Alaskan,
If you are fishing the North end I would try Gateway Bait & Tackle, it is located about a mile or so west of the Causeway in Ohio on OH rt 85 near the town of Andover.. Great selection. doesn't open real early this time of year 8 am or so. Poff's Place is on the PA side in Espyville on Rt 285 about 1/2 mile east of the Causeway. At the south end of the lake Richters is located on PA Rt 322 about 1 1/2 from the park entrance near the dam. Hope this helps.

    Alaskan,
The grocery store when you're comming into Linesville has a bait shop attached to it, although I'm not sure what their hours are.

Thanks all that have replied, I would like to make the trip tomorrow but I don't know if we are going to get the snow storm they keep saying we are. I need to fish somewhere different than P.I. and I would love to get an eye to fry up!!! They say Pym is the best place for that. Flip over shelter is ready to go, power auger ready, poles , need to do a set with heavier line. And pickup a tip up or two.

Good luck Alaskan.  Been watching the weather and the snow is supposed to start around 10am.  Pymy already had about 3-4" of snow on it last night, so any more should make pulling a shanty out loads o' fun .  Headed to Conneaut Lake this morning myself to see about some gill action.

Richter's is the best bait shop around pymy, its in jamestown on the right side right before the park entrance.
