I've got 4 extra tip-ups and a jigging pole or two which will be in my sled... you're welcome to use them.

New York Yank-  no worries about driving a 'regular car'.  You will be on plowed and paved County Roads or Interstate for your whole drive.  The lake is roadside.  It is big enough that you could walk a long ways on the ice if you chose- or maybe just a few hundred yards to good pike grounds.  Walleye just a bit further.

Pannies in both entire basins.

KayderossZ- it'll be good to see you up there again.  Bring along that sweet stool and you're golden!

I will be lending out my spare tip-up set to Just Matt, but I should have two or three leftover after that.  Just bring along some masking tape on which to write your name, etc. to stick on the traps (laws!) and you're all set!

See you cats Sunday.

A dozen people requires a pretty good swath of fishable water.  Loon is excellent for that.

I pretty much only fish Pike there (year round) and there are nice ones in there.  Fattie bass too that I have stumbled across in the past.  The perch can be really big, but I haven't chased them.  Just got lucky with some on soft plastics over the years.

Hot Tuna is the one with the walleye dialed in.  I bet the vex crowd could get lucky with some of those!

Any idea If I can put the quad on the ice where we are accessing the lake?

Not sure if you can get it through the little trail in the woods to the lake.

There is a 'public' launch and parking area, which is always chained and locked.  I have the key for the gate (from Chester Town Hall) but the lot will be unplowed, etc.

There are a lot of snowmobiles on the lake- but they may be using the State Snowmachine trails. No 4-wheelers on there of course.

You might want to call Chestertown?  They manage the public lands on the lake as municipal parks.  I dont think there are any real "State/DEC" facilities or anything like at Brant.

Yes, and bring the aqua view. That would be sweet to see that structure out there in the middle of no where.
I would think there has to be fish holding on there.

I would like to start taking some wagers on what is causing that big mark on the fishfinders.  I swear, it could be a chest freezer or a boat hull!

I've got some pretty decent structure out in front of my dock this season too.  16ft, just need to pinpoint it and drill some holes.  I wish I could have dragged out some more stuff before the ice came but it can't be done with a canoe.  (I tried).    So what's down there on the bottom now is all I have for the winter.  But it's a lot more than was there (none) last winter!

Could be a better season at home this year!

looks great that folks still want in. BB , great idea for the local guys . Sundays are tough..
It's pretty basic getting there & on the ice. I'm sure we could park about 8 cars or more if needed and car pooling is a good idea. I'd really like to be at the bait shop http://www.crossroadsoutdoors.com/index.asp
6:30>7:00 which means leaving snyders lake at 5am , it can be done..
For any earlier guys Crossroads opens at 6 if you need bait and directions to both bait & lake are easy..

Exit 25 Northway. from exit look right 100feet (BIG Sign Crossroads ) make left at sign and you are there .

To lake:
Left off exit 25 on rt 8 4miles. Keep going across lake outlet to rt 9. Take right bon rt 9 to first side road (Van Guilder rd.) park on that road & walk to lake .
Just google map Looon lake Chestertown,ny... you'll see ,easy
Walk on at end of guard rail by (small pump house) it's all good fishing from there,, dec has a contur map.. Pike shallow, walleye deep.

See ya sunday..

If i can get all the holiday festivities out of the way fri and sat, i am in. Looks like a crappy mess coming fri night into sat night and they are saying it may stay all ice up north so we may have to use a little extra caution getting up there. hope the rain doesnt ruin anything. I will know by sat if I am able to get away on sunday.

Yea I hear ya steve. I just looked at the weather and sat looks messy sun not too bad. We'll see as the days go by. No worries I'm sure everyone will be out every weekend. I'll ask the scout to take that 1 hr trip (10min ) from his house to check out some local waters for backup.

This looks like it will be a great way to spend my first hard water trip.  KJO- thanks for the offer to borrow some equipment, I might need to take you up on that, but I'll let you know. Planning on hitting the store today to get some stuff- how well I make out there will determine that.

Looking forward seeing everyone again, I'm sure its going to be a blast.

RJ- Just let me know what time at the Crossroads and I'll be there.

Looks like the latest weather report is pretty tasty.  Snow and crap Fri-Sat and then sunny on Sunday!

So Steve- plow that stuff early on Sat and get some sleep, my friend!  Sunday is the day that Santa beings you a keeper Walleye!  Lord knows you deserve one after the effort I've seen you put in...

Also- KayderossZ, I've got a whole spare set (5) of tip-ups if you want to use them.  I will bring them along.  They are all green ones so you'd have an easier time remembering which are yours, etc.

We will all follow IceFishingSteve up the Northway while he lays down a few miles worth of Sodium Chloride to exit 25.

Boys, make sure somebody has duct tape or masking tape & a marker. NYS law, only 5 per person and
they need to have you name and address on them.   Don't want to have a run in with law.

I also have plenty of extra gear, i'm sure everyone will be fishin'. The gas auger will be crankin so bring your ear plugs.. Speaking of noise, music works well and I can't find my i-pod . so bring some along ..
A few grills will be going , food & bush are always welcomed .

as for time ? we can buzz by exit 9 (clifton park) rest area by 5:30 or 6am from there it's about an hr. Just cll the time ....

should be fun
