Should be a good time just like last December!

Of course, there are going to be tons of other opportunities to meet up this winter also.  So if you can't make it, no worries!  Posting names and locations of lesser-fished lakes is obviously a really bad idea this far ahead.

But just count on meeting at Crossroads in the AM, and driving like fifteen minutes from there.  Wicked easy.  Just do a little detective work or PM some of the guys from last years "Season Opener".  It looks like this:

Looks like Backin, Lorne, IceFishingSteve and some others?  I know Hook Line Sinker was there too!!!

There were some pike and walleye caught last year.  No bruisers, but they do exist. Really big perch too!

BB- it may be a bit much for a day trip, and of course there is local ice around too!  But the drive north above Warrensburg is ALWAYS fun and gorgeous, and the lake provides activity for everyone.  Jiggers, bait dudes...

Even WHIP UP guys, from what I understand.  The WHIP UP guys just have to fish away from the group for fear we will all be associated with wind flags.  (Just kidding Brother, can't wait to get out with you again!)  And there are plenty of Stewarts and other stores nearby for folks who need to get more bait, beer or whatever.

Its not like some crazy super-secret, but it's silly to open the flood gates to everyone online and have them beating the snot out of the place this weekend before we even meet up after Christmas, right?

The idea is that there won't be a mad rush there this weekend and the fishing may be a bit better next weekend for all of us.  If anyone is hard-up just to find ICE, then that should be really easy by this weekend.

Heck, I bet the south end of Ballston is probably pretty close to walkable after this week's weather!

Wow a little close to Christmas, I work the 25th and 26th all night so I'll be a mess if I go, but Ive been a mess before so whatever. Hopefully there isn't some family function that pops up. Missed last year and was severely bummed.

Just kidding, Brother...  I slept for three days after that party...

I mispoke by saying it was far for a "day trip", since nearly every trek up there is just for a day.  But a "half day trip" is what I meant.  You can get from Albany to Chestertown in 90min or less most days, so in truth it really isn't that bad.  Just more gas then you'd need to burn staying local, etc.

The laughter alone will be worth the price of fuel, of course.  And the scenery is just a total bonus.

I lay off the suds too if I am driving.  But when I am getting picked up at my house all bets are off.

Man it seems like the plans never work out in my favor, I'll try but close to the holidays tend to suck for me.

I would assume there should be at least two or three "open invites" from this crew during the short hardwater season so if guys can make it, sweet!  If not, no one's offended!  Some days are better spent in small groups, but for a 'kick off' this time of year it's great to swiss-cheese a lake with auger holes and have at 'er!

I have no doubt we will all end up on Lake George on the same day at some point.  Either on purpose or just coincidence.  But everyone's got their own preferences, so really this whole thing is just an invite to tag along.

It's not like its a JIMMY JAM or something, ha!  Those mutha's need to be laid out way in advance!

Like Saturday, February 20th 2010, for example.  MARK IT!!!

man i'm not gonna stress out over hurting ppls feelings or stupid **** like that. This worked out awesome last year so I figured why not again. Well it seemed to start going south not 5 min after the post. Why ?? It's about getting together and friggin having fun on some places I'm sure most have never been before. Will I post for all lurking eyes my favorite places to fish, no way man I'm not spoonfeeding the freakin internet.. To me the internet has ruined too many good places to fish. And honestly, I am just to blame as well but learned my lessons.
The best way is to meet people who have been to such places (or hire a guide) and join them on a trip, not ask for their locations.. Sure, once you have become friends or feel comfortable with that person (no I'm straight) but never having the pleasure of even talking with that person, no way...

    So what now..
I still plan on the TRIP dec-27th. and hope to have a good group of guys come along as well. It should be a great day on the ice as was last year...

    Peace & Tuna

I know I want to be there weather permitting, no doubt I'll need to travel for early safe ice.. Will know a few days ahead who's good to go! I know harriman park is worse than snyders when it comes to freezing over..at best, the freeze is always after the new year down here.I hope for jigging up poor man shrimp like last season.. Yeah iffy weather such as snow/ice storms or rediculous winds would make me call it off. runs me over 40 a tank full of gas each way?..nothing better than a 20 minute drive each way for a day to good fishing but, I do enjoy a good meet and sceneic ride upstate.

Ok here it is the BIG SECRET location. One that got me swamped with pm's and possibly was the demise of one esteem past member.

it's LOON LAKE in Chestertown Exit 25 northway.
no big deal, a good lake with a variety of fish. Just a bit under 90min from Albany.

Really would like to get an early start and those who are going meet up at Crossroads in chestertown sometime between 6>7am.

Those who still want to go (now that you know) it should be a great time as was last year..
