Does anyone know where it actually says that electric motors are legal? I had NO idea you could fish the Wilhelm "sticks" with electric... haven't been there for few years, obviously.

Thanks!

You should do pretty good. Great time of the year to get up there.

Recently moved to the area, and been fishing Custard frequently. Haven't been doing too good, but the weather hasn't been the most pleasant to contend with.  Been using faithful nightcrawlers to no avail

I never did real well on crawlers up there. Try finding shiners or chubs in a pond or creek for up there. Never did that great on bought minnies for some reason.

I don't want to beat this subject to death, but Viper and I are heading up there tomorrow.  We're taking a small boat out, any last minute tips on targeting bowfins or pike?  Has anyone had any luck this time of year?

I'm hoping a few days around 50 might help out a little.

Thanks.

Anything that is flashy will work in the murky water up there. Spinners, plugs, they all work. That's why I get fresh shiners from my buddies pond... about 2-4 inches long.... they are the killers. Good luck and post back on how you guys do.

Viper, I think the closest one is in Cochranton not far from the beer distributor. I usually go to Fergie's along Georgetown Rd.

I thought you guys were talking about the Marsh near Geneva on the Lake in the state park just near the Lake but seems with all the posts there is another Geneva Marsh. I've heard of rumors of pike in there ( the marsh near the boat ramp entrance) but have never seen anyone fish those swamps.  No idea how deep. I never thought of going back there.

Where is this Geneva Marsh you are discussing?

Some of the best fishing around. Try it once and you're hooked because is so different than majority of fisheries in the area.

I called the PGC to make sure and the woman told me that electrics were allowed on all PGC waters unless posted

Electric Motors are allowed on the swamp. I'm gonna head up there this evening if it isn't too rainy.

Skunk City!  The wind was crazy yesterday, current was strong, and it was cold most of the day until about 4.  But to be honest I can't wait to get back up there.  The water was dark, but so clear you could see 8 feet down easily, maybe deeper.  We floated the main channel down near the 79 bridges for about 3 hours, and didn't even see anything.  No bites, nothing swimming by, etc.

But then we pulled he boat out and went over near the dam on foot and I did see a few Bowfins, those things are nasty!  They didn't seem interested and then I thew out a frog and just skipped it across the pads and weeds and out of no where one jumped up and grabbed it.  I thought I had him hooked but he jumped off.  That thing was strong though!  It hit like a pke.

As soon as the temps get back up, I'm heading back up there.  No doubt about it.

I've been noticing the bowfins that are there haven't been real active lately. I was standing on the wall and I just happened to look down, there was one right there! I threw everything I had at it, but just wasn't interested. There's something about the swamp....I just can't get too far away from it!

I know exactly what you mean... its like a different world of fishing the swamp. I probably won't fish it until early summer.. after the spring panfish bites have faded a bit. Bowfins hit and fight like a pike and a bass all in one, its hard to not want to go back and catch a couple.

Has anyone ever went nightfishing there??? What a whole new world. I'll definitely be there doing at least 50% of my fishing this year.

Agreed Fishin, I'm not sure about 50% but I plan on doing a LOT of my fishing there.  It is really unique out there.  And, honestly after seeing that Bowfin hit that frog the way it did, and that fact that I missed it I have a bit of a vendetta now.  I got to land one of those things!

I bet the bass fishing in there is great during the summer.  So much vegetation.  I might try making it back up there next weekend.

I fished there alot before i left for my 22 year navy career. I'm looking forward to getting over there in the next couple of weeks and hiting it hard. As for night fishing....remember it's a SWAMP ...lol the bugs are realy bad, bring alot of bug dope. (I use skin so soft before i go over and wash my hands real good before i handle my gear or bait)

I can't imagine night fishing there.  They probably get misquitos the size of tyradactyls.  (Spelling)

It can get pretty rough with the bugs.. but you don't notice them when the fish are biting until you get home.
