"...crowds might be an issue."
Well, you got that part right.
Please, get this voyage on video because I'm sure we'd all pay to see it.
Godspeed, Columbus!

Why not try 12 mile ? It would be fun to go over the falls and thru the tubes.

I did the falls in my canoe in '03.  Sort of like the logjammer at Kennywood.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

Wow, I got a lot of mixed reviews on to do or not to do. I think it would be great especially on a Saturday after a nice rain. I'm sure people wouldn't mind me rowing, while TB throughs spey flies and Tippe-Toe chucks skein! Ofcourse this was a spoof post. I just wanted to see the responses I'd get. It seems like people post some really stupid stuff, I just wanted to see how far it would go. I think if the people weren't there you could float Elk in a smaller like 12'er or a pontoon. It would be cool to try, although there is always too many people. When I started in the early 90's you could have definetly have done it.

Yep, this would be such a great fishery if there weren't any people fishing.

yes, i love to catch fish in the lake. jmo, but i cannot imagine dealing with the ruckus on such small streams fighting over fish. i have never fished, nor do i ever plan to fish the creeks from shore. HOWEVER, if the opportunity would present itself where i could watch float boats come cruising down those creeks, I'M THERE!!! imo, people watching and the thrill of the hunt outweighs the thrill of the kill. if you change your mind and decide to do it, PLEEEEASSSSE give a weeks notice before it happens.

I know, I often would like to take my pontoon down just to see the expression on peoples faces... It would be awesome.

It would be fun in a pontoon boat with enough water but I would say enough water to make it fun would also make for some tough fishing. One hitch in the plan, if a landowner owns both sides of the stream and doesn't want you there they can cause you a lot of problems if they get a pic of you hung up on a rock or anything else. Would this happen? I would guess not in Erie as most of the landowners out there seem to be very good people but I have plenty of friends whose outfitters have gotten busted this way in Colorado. It's really goofy.

I watched someone in one of those Mokai kayaks seriously struggling to get up some class 2 water. The cute thing was that I was already coming down through it in my drift boat. Luckily for himself he was smart enough not to play chicken. For the price a small pontoon boat with an electric trolling motor is a better option since you can use it on a lot of lakes which are electric only.
