I'll prove it! you gotta look for them..you gotta do some exploring to find fish..search the deeper holes that are heavily shaded

July is definately the tough monthe to get one, I have caught them in augest through june as well ( june being REAL TOUGH)  I actually had some awesome days last year in late augest but there so fickle to the weather that time of year that its really hit or miss, never got one in july but I honestly have never fished for them then.

I have a buddy that went to PS Behrand for 5 years and pretty much fished every day on the lake or in the tribs and he claimed that he could find Steel any day of the year on walnut, But he might be full of BS.

please refer to the policy section of the boards.  If you are naming spots on private property it is indeed considered a spot burn.

I dont know where you come up with these bogus reports, but it is really getting old.  Im not saying that you did not catch a fish every month of the year, but I remember you posting a few weeks ago about smallmouth fishing in Walnut Creek and the only thing you said that you saw were smallies, suckers and walleye, no mention of any steelhead anywhere around.  I posted this last year to start conversation, not a fight.

So on a better note....

It's June first, anyone taking up the challenge this year??

its very simple..medium action rod, 4-6 pound mono, small split shots, skein, eggs, sucker spawns, mini fu's or any of that will get them

I used to go to michigan city Indiana and fish for skanamian steels about 15 years ago.  There a summer run strain that run in June, July, and August.  There are a few in Lake Erie, but not impossible to have a occasional one around here.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Loomis,
mancester hole nor any hole bellow that is a spot burn..they are both heavily fished by not only people from here, but around the world..and non of the reports i have posted have been lies! i tell the truth! and i said there were 6 walleyes..the must have came up the night before and never made there way back..and a few weeks back i didn't go up to mancester hole so i wasn't where the steelies were sitting..and my friend caught a steelie yesterday so he got one in june officially..he got her out of Walnut upstream ( can't say where because everyone will get all whinny and upset over it)

I'am going to make the trip tomorrow to the Eastside just for the hell of it and to try to add June to my steelie months. Had lots of action in early may but haven't been up in several weeks. I will let you know.

21 months and counting. Barely squeaked through March, oddly enough, with only steelhead to my credit in what's usually the breakout month for trout. Since then, each month has gotten progressively better...I'm probably close to 20 already for June.

I'll be near Erie August 2nd for a golf outing.  I'm guessing that won't be an ideal time to try to catch my first steelhead huh? lol
