is it true that they taste like chicken?...............lol

we have seen so many in the last ten years between mosquito lake and pymatuning that they seldom get a second glance.  conservation and wildlife agencies do have agendas that really do work.

a friend of mine from back home in greene county has one on video outside of his house.  He lives on wheeling creek, never saw it again, might have just been passing through, pretty cool to see an eagle right outside your house.

I see eagles on French Creek often.  One mature eagle often perches across the creek from our camp fishing but I've yet to figure out where he/she is nesting.  Can't be too far away based on the immatures we see each year and many evenings around 7 PM or so he/she flies upstream past our place.  One day one perched in a tree on our side of the creek, in our yard.  My wife has a powerful scope and 10X binoculars and we were able to read a band on its leg.  Called it in and found out it had been banded in New York State.  Interesting how they migrate, find a home then stick near it.

Often the one that sits across the creek will remain there for an hour or so while we sit watching it from our fire pit.

Beautiful birds.  One day I waded into the water in front of the camp and an eagle must have been perched nearby watching me because a couple minutes later it swooped away over my head.  Awsome wing noise they have.

That's pretty cool to see the band no. and get an ID to where it originated. I've yet to see a band in these parts.

same here.  i have seen eagles sitting on the ice at pyma, close to a flock of geese.  i believe the mother was teaching the immatures how to hunt.  the mother launched and flew over the flock, and in unison, they all lowered their heads and then raised them again as the eagle flew by.  all three immatures, one by one, did the same.  really amusing.

just hated when they would buzz my duck decoys.  always made my heart jump.  lol

have also seen a smaller raptor dive to the surface and pluck a fish from the water.  not sure if it was a falcon or some kind of kestrel or fish hawk.  really neat aviary up there.

Last year I saw 3 eagles--1 @ Moraine, 1 @ Crooked Creek, and 1 @ Woodcock.

The sighting @ Woodcock was quite interesting: there was a blue herron patrolling the weedy shallows for food & there was an eagle perched up in a nearby nesting pole.  The eagle kept "dive bombing" the blue herron apparently trying to scare him away or whatnot.  The herron wasn't phased by the pesky eagle and stood his ground everytime the eagle would swoop down...Wish I would've had a camera or video recorder for that--was really something to see!

It's the only band we've ever seen on a eagle and that was just because it was so close to us. It must have sat there for an hour or so. The ones on French Creek don't seem very afraid of humans which would be too bad if some creep decided to shoot at one. I kayaked under an immature eagle sitting in a tree once and we both sat there watching each other until some smaller bird ****ed the eagle off enough to make him leave. He must have been near the little birds nest.

On the banded bird we could read most of the id numbers and the Game Commission woman we spoke with in Franklin did some research. She couldn't tell us much about the bird except where it came from. Still it was cool to learn it came from out of state.

We love those eagles but we also see hawks, owls, osprey and a host of animals including bears. We also hear but never see a pack of coyotes.

I really enjoy the French Creek/Allegheny River areas.

I checked on a local nest by me today. Momma was feeding one chick. Really neat to watch. Fuzzy little bugger with a BIG beak. I have yet to see the male there yet. He can't be far....

I was at a friends house the other day and was leaving when i seen a eagle perched in a tree at the end of this yard. He lives where the conny and brush creek meet. Tried to get a pic but as soon as he seen my fumbling to my phone out he flew down stream. Well maybe next time i'll have a camera!!!!!  Was cool to see tho

If you leave the camera home, you'll see great shots.LOL!   Happened to me all the time. I carry a camera like a wallet lately. Eagles are funny critters. Sometimes they look and pose for you, other times they fly off as soon as I open the car door.

Come to  think of it, cameras may be a jinx. Since I started bringing a camera to take pics of the fish I catch, they all seem smaller now and I catch less...
