Eagle sightings

As of right now i have a streak of 5 fishing trips in a row that i have seen at least 1 bald eagle. All in northern crawford and south erie county and they are not on the same body of water. My best day was 4 (prob the same pair twice, none the less). They were not all adults the last one was a young bird with its head just turning white.

Look up every so offten, you may be suprised what you see. I know for me seeing an eagle can turn around a poor fishing trip and turn it in to a great day to be out on the water.

I was fishing the fingers a few weeks ago in Edinboro, had one come cruising by just over are heads, like you said, it turned a bad day of fishing into a good day. Big bright white head, it was a sight to see.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

They are common as dirt in Kinzua country.  A few Ospreys are around too.  Saw one catch a fish just east of Northeast Marina last spring.

there is a nesting pair right in the ohio campground for the fourth year in a row.  they shut off part of the campground.  they have buzzed my dekes up there while duck hunting for years.

A few around is certainly nice to see I hope it stays that way. Took a trip to washington state 5 years ago. Was all the way up 3 hours north of Seattle on Sammish Island. Bout 30 miles south of Canook country. The bald eagles are so plentifull around there they are a nuisance. and become scavengers of populated areas instead of hunters like they supposed to be. Saw them from 2 feet away picking at the garbage cans outside the window. Impressive birds and beautiful up close. Disapionting to see them scavenge for food. Being that close I was glad there was a window between us , the claws and beak were like little sicles.

Yeah I've also seen them around Harbor Acres. It's pretty neat to see them come and take trout before opening day of trout when the sun is first coming up. Along with them, there are a few ospreys around there and sometimes they can go at it. It sure is a something to see and gives some entertainment while waiting for an hour or so to fish.

Believe it or not Ive seen 2 less than 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. One was on the Ohio river perched in a tree, and the other was in Ambridge chasing a Turkey Vulture.

Hi to all the eagle people. I am a pro Photographer ( yes I do shoot people for a living ) but I am putting together a collection of local wildlife prints and I am looking for a Eagle nest that I can get somewhat close to with out disturbing the Eagles. I give total respect for the animals and do not disturb them.   If anyone knows of a nest that fits the bill please let me know. I do also have a canoe and I will give them total respect.
    Thank you

Take your canoe and try the South Branch in West Virginia commonly called "The Trough"! It's a good overnight trip - good fishing too - many places to camp -variety of wildlife! Seen several eagles there!

is it true that they taste like chicken?...............lol

we have seen so many in the last ten years between mosquito lake and pymatuning that they seldom get a second glance.  conservation and wildlife agencies do have agendas that really do work.

Hey Rap, I'm waiting on spring. cabin fever is bad this year! Bring on the hazy lazy days of summer. 2 more weeks til our opening day here. Getting out and shooting pics is a decent form of therapy... nice thing about it is everything is always in season to shoot! Pretty much have the woods to yourself too.

Glad to see your getting  back to posting. Didn't you have trouble with your computer? What became of it? Viruses?

I think a lot of the people who stir the pots so to speak get the hint when nobody responds to bad remarks etc...  Still have to love the boards though... quit a large variety of characters. get a lot of laughs from most of the (friendly) bickering.
