The only thing better than 1 day of fishing is 2 days of fishing.

Greg,

I had a talk with one of  the local old school fishcutters this afternoon about what gives with the perch bite lately.

He says when the bug /flea hatch is going heavy, perch have little interest in feeding on minnies. .  I watched him dice about 50 perch while talk-n & he showed me how stuffed full of water fleas they all were.  I only saw one fish that had a 1/2 digested minnow in its belly out of the whole bunch .

Does the boat motor running attracts perch?   He had some interesting theories on that one.  I say no but many capts. say yes.

But then I believe in party anchors so who knows for sure.

Critter,

It's ironic that you mention the hatch going on.  Today I was talkin to Wormwaster (Brian) about the small white flies I noticed coming off the water Sunday.  They were white winged with a tan body.  Miniature in size, #28 or less.  Were these what you are talkin' about?  If I was a perch I would probably prefer a fat emerald shiner over one of those bugs, lol!

changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes....nothing remains quite the same

B-man,

Probably hundreds of different species of bugs in them waters. If it could fly, it wasn't a water flea.  Heres a few links.

Water flea a.k.a. daphnia

Invasive specie -spiny water flea

Have you ever experience a major Mayfly hatch??  On a calm evening during the hatches, you can see / hear waves of these things coming ashore.  I live about 2 miles from the shoreline & they never make it that far inshore.  My buddies that live on the lake can almost shovel them up off their drives, decks, everything during a major hatch.

They might have been feeding on fleas. It was odd sunday that none of the fish caught around me, were puking up anything. Normally they are disgorging something, Gobies, fleas, Zebra Mussels, something. Being over fed didn't appear to be the reason for the slow bite.
