Baked one a couple of years ago. Very good eating. Much better than steelhead. It was about 7 pounds. Didn't realize it was that big a deal to catch one.

Very Nice Fish for Pa waters, Congrats !!!!

I've only caught two out of Erie, both were in the 18-20 inch range. But still fun to catch, anytime you pick up a brown or a stray salmon in erie its a plus. Lost a monster in the Nut a few years back, about broke my heart !
How about some lake run Brookies ?? Be nice to get about a  5lber !!! Won't ever happen, but a nice thought.
I heard a local Erie sportsman club stocks (Brookies)them once in a while in the spring in one of the Mile creeks, has anybody ever caught one that looked like it was a return fish from the lake ???

Some people don*t like Berkley, but Magnum power eggs in the orange are very good to catch browns in Lake Erie and the tributaries of Erie. They also work well in other creeks and streams as well!  I have targeted them in Elk and Walnut several times with success and even caught 2 over 9 lbs the same day on them @ Trout run in the Lake 10 years ago. I gave some to a vetenarian who I fish by for several different Fridays that year  and he caught a brown over 12 lbs the same day as I got the 2-9+lbers!

Since NY has been putting them in Lk E, catching brownies is no longer a big deal here in my area. I got two on Sunday. The little 16 incher had some fight but the 22 incher came in like a sack of wet leaves. Saw 4 others on stringers and heard of another that was let go. I liked it better when catching one was rare.
Once in great while you hook into a really big one and that's cool, and rare. But mostly those 20-22 inch fish don't nearly have the fight as the same sized steelhead.

WHATS UP WITH SOME LAKE TROUT

I think one was caught this year in the creeks, go back a few pages on this board and see. They run out of Lake O and into the Niagara River, its a big river, but they don't run in the Erie tribs due to the size of the creeks ??? Thats my guess.

Thought id share the one brownie i got 2 days after hurricane ike rolled through awhile back. I hope, like many more others said, that these will be more common in the erie tribs. Caught below rt5 at 20 mile. Its been 4 years since i got a brownnie. Sure was nice to land this one. 25 inches bout 5 - 6 lbs. She was released in hopes of making some other anglers day!!!!
