spruce creek

Fished the state college area all weekend at various locations. The biggest disappointment was that I read a lot about spruce creek and how great it was, but found that most of it is posted and private. What is the story behind that BS.

Pollution from agriculture, development along the creek, and clubs stocking over wild fish and building dams throughout it's length.  Even in the 5 years I have fished that stretch I have seen a dramatic decrease in aquatic life, not a good sign.  Yes there is only 1/2 mile stretch open to the public, but it used to be a fun place to stop off for a few hours on the way to the Little J.

I think he means "why is so much of Spruce Creek posted."

I thought it was pretty well known that Spruce was mostly private.  I assumed he meant it wasn't what he expected because of both the fishing and private water.
