My brother has an old farm pond he stocked about 8-9 years ago and still has quite a few big and littlemouth bass and crappy.

I just started fly fishing, and want to know what should I throw at them??

For bass:  Big poppers and sliders.  Use a leader 8' long or less, and 2x tippet or thicker.  Those bulky flies are a bear to cast with a leader that's too long.  7 or 8 weight rod will be best.  But if you don't have one use what you've got.  Also, cicadas, grass hoppers, rabbit strip divers, zonkers, frog imitations.

small size 10-12 Clouser minnows for the crappies is what I'd use.

Bead headed olive streamers( size 10). The olive I've found is a good all around pattern for bass and panfish.

Second is a damsel nymph, fished very slow retrieve. Slow by way of small snail like retrieve.

If the bass are big, don't be afraid to throw the 10 wt. with some big deer hair bugs.  It will make casting them a breeze... Like salt said though, the five is probably your best choice...

I've caught a lot of smallmouth on muddler minnows. You can weight the fly and trim the deer hair head short and fish it on the bottom. You can leave it unweighted and fish it like a streamer. You can leave a bushy head and fish it like a hopper.  Depending on your choice of materials, you can have a simulator or attractor fly. You can add marabou for action. And bass like 'em in just about any size between#4 and #10.
