Saturday, our crappie club picked up quite a bunch between us. Some fished the linesville stumps and the rest were in the bays near Pandanarama launch. Sunday, some of us went back to linesville and did pretty good again. Ed caught 23 himself.

The whole north end is pretty good right now.  Find some shallow structure and warm water, you will find slabs.  You will catch some, but not usually a lot of whites in the north end.  Blacks will stick around until usually mid to late May before heading out.

Inside the little pockets around Clark and Harris Islands is always a hot spot, but I heard behind Tuttle Island was hot this past weekend!
Causeway still slow! Maybe in the next week or so the black crappie will start moving deeper.

Killed them behind Tuttle Island last saturday. Caught 10 keepers with 4 that were 12 inches and 1 that was 13. Caught them in about 4 ft. of water with small minnows and a bobber. All black crappie. Missed probably 6 or 7 and will most likely be back there this saturday.

I've been fishing since the ice went off(actually there was still ice on the lake but none on the coves) and I finally picked up my first black crappie on Tuesday night.  Every fish I have gotten has been white.  Although the black that I did get was 1lb9oz.  Of course so long as a crappie is over 8-9" I could care less what color it is.

Now for my report...  I did good this weekend.  Ended up with 25crappie on Sunday and a few on Tuesday.  Agreement with the previous post, find 4FOW or so and small (1/32oz) jigs or colored hooks.

I would assume you are fishing from Tuttle and south there TrapJaw?  Between my buddies and I we have probably taken 250 to 300 crappies home so far this spring out of the north end and only a handful of those have been whites.  It is my experience, the whites prefer the bigger open water south with less weeds and stain to the water.  Personally, I prefer blacks because they are thicker than whites and therefore a "bigger" fillet.  Whites tend to be a lot less broad across the back and provide a "thinner" fillet.

We got sixteen nice slabs looks like if the weather holds out we will have some luck this year. I will talk to you on thusday at tuttle's. Ps. Where you guys camp they ripped out all those bushes an trees and are starting to make a bigger parking lot, but there is alot of mud right now where you guys camp. Just thought I let you know.

Papermouth good to see you're back. I got them all on a white twister grub tipped with a medium minnow. All in shallow water 4ft or less, see you Thursday and you also have a safe trip.

Storm, I fish the NW part of the lake, Wilsons down through the red cross area.  I don't know if one of us has miss-identified what we're catching(if that's the case it's probably me) but I catch all mine in shallow weady area.  Check out this link... http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/Fishing/aquanotes-fishid/bcrappie.htm

White crappie on left, black on right.  Whites are more elongated and thinner.  Blacks are thicker and more compact.  Most crappies I have ever caught in Pymy are black, although there are a quite a few whites as well.

Fished Pymy with my daughter for a couple hours last night.  Historical hot spot was a big ZERO, so at my little girl's request, we moved back towards the launch, set up in 6 fow on a stump and finished the evening off strong including 8 crappies over 12, two small ones, a perch and a channel cat.  All fish seemed suspended or were actively chasing, slip b's were set at 4 & 5 feet down.

Fished the Linesville area on Friday 5/4 and Saturday 5/5 for crappies.  Did real well including some really nice ones on Friday.  Also caught a few bass, channel cats, and perch.  All fish were caught on minnows.

    Hello everyone,
My hubby and I were fishing around Harris Island a week ago on Sunday and I caught a 12 inch crappie. Are there bigger ones than that in pymie?
We caught a few other ones but not as big.. That was our first time on the lake in years. We just bought an old MFG Westfield boat and fixed it up,
so being retired now and enjoying some fishing.  I love this forum.. Read it every day.. Thanks for all the great info..    Lois

Yes Lois, they get much larger than that.  A buddy of mine this morning was walleye fishing and got a one 15''.  I personally have only got them up to 15'' but have heard of ones pushing 17''.  Hope you enjoy your time out there!

lois, a watershed is another name for a reservoir.  water is "shed" from surrounding lands and collects in the lakes in the area.  there are a couple of bays on the north end that are excellent producers in the spring.  red cross (bennett) bay and black jack bay are really good early.  where you are fishing is a hot spot also.  some of the bays along the west side of the lake on the north end with downed-trees will also hold slabs.

A water shed is actually the area of land that catches the water.
