Hot fly??

What are you boys using up there?? Does SS work well up there or do you guys use stones or eggs??

    They all work---some days I think it's more color than type.

    Steel on a pin---so easy a caveman can do it.

    Use anything you do in Erie. A steelhead is a steelhead.
     
    Glo Spawns and Sucker Spawns work great.

    I agree but the flies I use are bigger than in Erie.
    My fav. fly in Erie is a #18 SS. Try that on the big water & you won't do so well.
    10-12 on the SR. Some guys go as big as a 6. Too big for me- hurts too much if it hits the back of the head.

    Lower in the river I am the larger my fly. #6-4 in the DSR down to #10 in the upper river (above Pineville). I like to have some different shapes (round like eggs to long and skinny) and have found the old adage dark on a dark day bright on a bright day to hold true more often than not. Exact pattern is meaningless.

    I hear glo bug yarn in yellow colors works pretty good.
    Sucker eggs are yellow I believe?
