Favorite Calls?

So with the season coming up shortly I've been starting to get my gear ready and of course, calling while driving in the car.  What are some of your favorite calls or "go to" calls for bagging that Tom?  Anyone have any brands that they really trust that aren't as prevalent as a Primos or Knight & Hale?

I used to like perfection mouth calls but cant find them anymore. now i use pennswoods double and triple reeds and a slate call with a couple homemade wingbone yelpers as the striker.

The mouthcall I have the most luck with in the spring is an H.S strut alumistrut Viper, it's a 3 1/2 reed cutter.
My favorite boxcall is a lynch world champ. My best slate call is a Quakerboy.

Hands down, since I got it, every gobbler I have killed since (4) has fallen to the Primos Power Crystal.  THE BEST SLATE (friction) call in the world.  Can get real high pitch and high volume and work it down to a whisper.

Thought I'd stir something up and voice my opinion primos.  I cant stand anything they make.  The only product I will ever use from them is "the can" and will never buy anything from primos again in my life.  Cant stand there turkey calls, waterfowl calls, hunting movies, etc...  Its all crap.

I've probably got close to $300 in mouth calls sitting in my basement that I don't use.  I buy a few every year to try, but they just don't sound right to me.  My favorite go to call is the quad that Gulvas makes.  The only place I've seen sell them is the little store in Russell City.  Hard to beat.  Has anyone else noticed how different the diaphrams sound even though they are the same model by the same company.  My go to used to be the raspy hen by quaker boy, but I haven't found another one that sounds like the one I used to use.

I never said just Primos videos are like that.  I said I dont like primos hunting videos.  A lot of hunting videos are done on ranches and are set up and a lot of videos are not.

For mouth calls, anything that says Woodhaven, Chestnut Ridge, or Adventure Game Calls is hard to beat.  The new Turkey Tech 3 pack from Knight n Hale is also very good.  For slates, the Codys and Blodgetts are very good (I do like the Knight n Hale Ole Yella).  As for boxes, noone can compare to a Smith's.

I've killed plenty of turkeys by using primos calls. They work as well as any other calls I own, and I own plenty. My personal favorite is an almost worn out "ol yeller" synthetic slate call.

Why do you think Primos stuff is crap? You cant just say its crap and not give a reason.

My favorite for the past couple of years has been the HS Strut 360 glass call. Fav.box call Lynch word champ. I prefer any mouth call from Penns woods, they seem to fit my mouth best.

I also would like to know what makes Primos calls crap?

I think the problem with many commercial call makers is that they concentrate so hard on making so many styles, relying on gimmicks and enormous quantities that they tend to forget about quality.  Then, when they do make a good call, it is hard for people who refer to them as "junk makers" to take them seriously.  I do believe that is changing and these companies are going back to trying to build fewer gimmicky items and more "quality" ones.
