They're strutting already

I just had two nice gobblers in the backyard trying their darndest to impress the ladies.  Interesting sight, gobblers strutting in the snow.  The hens weren't impressed.  Nice to see the birds now, even tho I know they'll disappear before may.

There was 15 in my yard again tonight, but they hightailed it out of there when they saw me and the guy pumping my septic tank.  So the only behavior I observed was running away...which I've seen before.

I saw about 90 out yesterday, on property NO ONE can hunt.... figures.

You know when the best time to kill a turkey is?

When you see one, might not see it again.

Running away seems to be a common behavior of turkeys, as I saw it numerous times last season.

There must be a flock hanging around the woods near my house, I'm starting to see them every morning.  The two gobblers are always with them.

Saw two out in an old cornfield yesterday fighting like hell. Both had 6-8 inch beards.

Me and my friend both go to edinboro university, and monday, wednesday, and today we took drives around looking for turkeys and all three times we saw flocks, some longbeards, the most birds on posted land with a landowner that won't give permission.  Lots of birds around though, looking forward to this season!

There is three gobblers in the flock that hangs around my place.  Two of them are always right in among the ladies (and jakes), but one always hangs around on the edge.  Maybe he's taken too many butt kickings, and he doesn't want to get close.

I got to school at Edinboro too, there is a lot birds around.  I saw a flock off of crane road with around 250 birds.  There was close to 100 longbeards in it.  Been watching them a lot latley, and there split up pretty good already.  Also seeing a lot of resident geese! I live in College Park and wake up to them every morning.  Cant wait till Sept 1st!

Ya, I know what you mean.  A lot of people give looks.  A buddy of mine lives on lakeside, up from the Edinboro beach.  We butchered 6 deer this year from a big oak that is on the side of the road.  A lot of people stopped.  Nothing like getting a case of beer and cleaning some animals in a college town.
