i don't know if it is just me, but this winter seems to just go on and on.  i haven't been up pymy since nov. 12th but i sure miss it.  i keep checking the 10 day outlook on the weather channel site and other than monday, we continue to be in the mid 30s with a wintry mix.  i am sick of this slop.  one good thing, i get some pretty good naps in this time of year.

Purdy sure you plant garlic in the fall for a better crop. Gettin ready for the radish, beets, lettuce & onions as soon as the ground dries out. Deer ate all the peas last year  Dandelions should be good soon. Should be good for car tops on Arthur the last week of March in certian areas. Then the lake will prob. be lowered for a weed die off. Hope they can hold back on it a couple weeks so the pike can do their thing better.

    Chris,

Weed control drawdowns usually occur in late fall. It may be drawn down for dock repair, or in anticipation of spring runoff, I don't know. Doubt they would need to do so over runoff though, unless we get a bunch more snow.

      Mike,

Gonna be alot of weeds this year then. Wasn't a significant drawdown this fall or winter again for a die off.
When they do the spring drawdowns for repairs I've noticed alot of pike get stranded in certian spawnin areas.
Not good for the pike that eat the over abundance of gizzard shad.

Our area is I think over 2" above avg. rainfall for the year. Just have too take advantage of what happens in either bone dry or flooded.

icelady, my old friend owns gateway bait and tackle.  i fish and hunt with a couple of retired oh. park rangers.  in fact, i coached senior girls fast pitch in andover for a couple of years.  still love the area.
